Congrats I had a one time or winner like that too. I’ve spoken about before just make allowance for your normal capital gains you have to pay at the end of the year.

Sure, but even better: just place all your highest expected return positions in your Roth IRA.

Jesus Christ……… it’s up over $43 per share just today.

43 x 4000 = $172,000 (that is my gain, since Friday)

It feels so good, that I have forgotten,……….. what cumming feels like! LOL

$869.71 x 4000 = $3,474,840 for those keeping score.

Another unbelievable day……. It went up $27.36 per share today.

$887 x 4000 = $3,548,000

Until I cash in…….. it’s only a paper number.

I must admit…….. it doesn’t even seem real.

Do you research on the tax burden. You wouldn't want to give half of it to the federal government.

Wouldn't it just be 20% long-term cap gains and no state tax. So he has $2.8M after tax. Nice problem to have.
You say just like it's a small amount. Doing a little bit of homework and strategically planning could wind up saving him a windfall especially if he has losing stocks he wants to get out from under

Good thing he is not in California, or you would add another 13% as Cali treats capital gains as ordinary income... what does FL do?

But not anywhere close to half like you originally suggested.

And up over 910, I hope it hits 1k, when it does seriously think about selling 1/3 just to walk away with a record win and you still have 2/3rds to play with, it may go higher but also may take a nice hit due to profit taking or market news due to being over bought. Either way congrats again.

Since yesterday……… I am up another $158,760

For those keeping score.

$926.69 x 4000 = $3,706,760

I am so blown away. It truly does not seem real.

I am up $1,312,000 (approx) since starting this thread a month ago. I was beyond happy then…… Now it feels like a dream.

My Mother in law has cleaned up pretty good on Nvidia lately. She grabbed about a 10k chunk a few years back. We have some in our Portfolio, enough to bump the needle, but not enough to move my retirement date.

I think it’s got a shot at doing it today.
My wife and I think it will go over $1000 per share early next week.

It always starts robust in morning trading, then wimpers off in the afternoon.

Either way, I cannot believe what has happened since December. What a ride!

While it may be easy money, I admire the discipline to hold it through the roller coaster market as long as he has. One hell of a reward.😎
That's the truth, I would've probably sold at around $1m value total if initial investment was 19k

Almost time to cash out
The hardest part right now is trying to figure out which companies i want to invest in next.

Since we started our Nvidia run with a 19k investment, we are thinking of buying 19k worth of stock in 168 companies. Thats approx what we will have after taxes.

Maybe one of those 168 investments will turn into another Nvidia?

My reality is……… I just don’t need the money right now. May as well reinvest it.

We are currently looking to Motley Fools newsletter for future investment ideas. That newsletter is what got us to invest in Nvidia 11 years ago. We are very thankful too!

Several years ago, after Nvidia had an earnings report. The stock went from approx $450 per share, down to approx $150 per share. We beat ourselves up for not selling, when every day we watchEd our investment get smaller and smaller.

We told ourselves that if it ever got back to approx $450 we would sell.

However, once it did bounce back……… we decided to just hang in there. I am so glad we did.

But, today, things are different. It has to do with total valuation. We just don’t see it becoming a 10 Trillion dollar company. We are also aware that we need to get out before the institutional investors jump ship. That is why we are preparing to sell.

Nice problem to have. I would take the 3m after taxes and invest conservatively to draw a 10% annual dividend, reinvest 4% annually to compensate for inflation and take the other $150k or so after taxes annually and spend it on living life! Safe play and nice retirement security.

Hell, even T Bills would earn you $120,000. per year with zero risk.

But if you took no risks you would not have this "problem" today.

Needless to say we are ALL in awe.

Here is a perfect example of why I should sell. Mainly for my stress level.

$972 at 10:30 am

$890 at 12:30 pm

For me, that’s a $328k loss in 2 hours. My heart can only take so much! Ouch!
now its almost a 1/2 million
