Is it just me or is this a little out of hand?

I've been at work for the past 5 days and came home to see this...

My neighbor is on a 3 week cruise and parked his Ridgeline on the street across from his house. I went to get the mail today and saw that CHP issued a warning that the truck needs to be moved as a vehicle can't sit in the same spot for greater than 72 hours before it is subject to citation.

This guy is out of the country and I have no way of reaching out to him, im half tempted to grab my fast jacks and just move the damn thing for him

Did they mark tires? If you skate it, line will still be clocked the same.
On the otherhand, dude leaves the country, and leaves his car on the street. Can't say as though I would have done that in Cali.

I have a feeling it's our HOA president, this chick has turned me in for my AZ tags before and just looks for shit. She doesn't even live in the state, she lives in Henderson but has a second home here in Temecula.

I want to move it as the guy who owns it is a good guy and doesn't bust balls. I just don't want to open myself up to liability by moving it with out talking to him first

Being a Ridgeline, it's AWD. So make sure all 4 wheels are up and you're good. Problem with skates may be the curb side.

That's why I'm going with the fast jacks and not a floor jack, I figure a couple guys (one on each corner) and we should be good
I was just thinking about the curb and where the concrete meets asphalt. With a couple guys it shouldn't be too bad at all. I use those a lot to maneuver much heavier things by myself on flat concrete. As long as it doesn't have to go up a hill you'll be good.

HOA’s 🙄.

I’m Curious why he’s park it on the street? Most people park in the driveway to help make it look like someone is home.
Is it in the way of anything, street sweeper etc?

Luckily it's flat ground with good asphalt

Take it off the car for him.

Somebody with nothing better to do called that shit in, there’s no way in fuck a chippy did that on his own accord
Thanks for the info, the whole thing seemed out of sorts for that department, but I personally don't have any direct involvement.

Good looking out. He might of been late or thinking about something else and left it there. I did that once. Came home to a parking ticket. Totally brain farted in a rush to get out of town. Meant to move it back in the driveway.

Call the local CHP station. Ask for the watch commander. Explain the situation. I bet they’ll give it a pass until owner is back. The whole ping of 72 hour tags is for abandoned vehicles. This car isn’t abandoned.

If they can’t give it a pass then fuck it. Move it.

And I 100% agree with FBW, no fuckin way in hell a chippy tagged that thing without a direct complaint from a neighbor.

Just a warning, rip that off and throw it away.

Don’t make this harder than it has to be. 😁
Only problem with that is, whoever called will see it removed and call again. Now the PD might get annoyed and issue a ticket/towed violation. People suck. :(

Yep! More than likely the neighbors house that he parked in front of got butt hurt because he parked in front of his house and called CHP. Some peoples children 🤦‍♂️

Ticket says this vehicle is parked on highway/freeway right of way. Which is completely false. He could fight the ticket if it happens I imagine

I’m not much on people parking their shit on the street longer than a few hours. Especially if you’re going on a trip. 😉

Why is the CHP doing anything like that on city streets????? I thought they stick to state and federal roads and highways. Time for a call to the CHP local office,

CHP has traffic enforcement responsibilities in unincorporated areas.
^^^THIS^^^

I thought the sheriff did that
CHP also handles School Resource Officer in thoes same areas. I thought just like you but I was wrong. I don't understand why the sheriff doesn't but I do understand that the CHP is state LEO and has jurisdiction anywhere in the state.

They are all over the streets here. I see them more in residential than on the local freeways.

CHP is the california state police with a different name....they aren't limited to highways.

So let’s see if I understand this….

Local police won’t write reports for car accidents Without Bodily injury

but
The CHP will take the time to write a warning for a parked car that has been parked for 72 hours….

wonder if that CHP was one of those volunteer types…

I am just not understanding why a CHP would come write a parking ticket warning? Seriously is that money and time well spent?
Thats a local cop situation. Somebody in that hood is a CHP or is good friends with that CHP is my thought.

Can I ask why? Why does it bother you if it is not blocking your driveway? I have never understood this mindset.. if it's not in your way and isn't on blocks, why do you care? You do not own the street.

Its amazing how many California residents don't know that. They even guard the governor.

My issue was having them park so close to my approach I have to make a 3 point turn in and out of my driveway. My Tundra solved that problem.

If you had Neighbors that had 7 kids and 2 of them buy and sell cars. So 12 cars or so. It becomes a issue. Same Neighbors asked me to not park my dump truck in front of my house as it makes it hard to get in and out of there driveway.

WTF!! I'm not parking my car 1/4 of a mile away because karen complained and a cop marked a tire, I'd move the car about 100' and wipe the chalk off the tire and mark it in a different spot so it looks like it rolled. Or move it, wash it and put tire dressing on the tires.
