Just like *real men* raced cars back in the 20's and 30's with very little safety equipment...real men competed in Freestyle MX back before the days of the foam-filled practice pit.

I'm old school.
My favorite trick is a kick-ass tailwhip.
Maybe a knack-knack...

A lot of the newer stuff is like gymnastics on a bike...and I'm not really a fan of gymnastics. Not taking anything away from the skills involved, though.

This years FMX was boring. Although the front flip was pretty sweet. The FMX course was so small it took the fun out of it. It seems like the whole event this year is kinda boring.

Interesting...
I know we have hired the MM for a tune of $10K a day, which I thought was kind of cheap for what they do, to just paying Metzger and his MOB syndicate last year for a little less at the Big Nasty Hillclimb.
We are not bringing anyone in this year. Budgets aren't what they used to be. In the last 6 weeks, Metz managed to break 14 ribs, puncture both lungs, lacerate his liver, shatter his spline, fracture both collar bones, shoulder, shoulder blade, face, 3 vertebras, and he's still alive. OUCH!

These riders are doing stuff that wasn't even conceived of 3 years ago...and it's boring? Just because it looks easy and we've seen some of these tricks before, it doesn't mean it is easy :blah:

If you ask me, these guys risk their lives on every attempt and when they f*ck up, the consequences are usually not good...just sayin.

Don't get me wrong these guys are crazy talented athletes. Its not the riders who are boring just the show itself mainly i think because the excitement has gone mainly. I think because of the announcers and judges who critic them so strongly. They have to flip, but if they flip too much the get penalized. Just my opinion

I think they are still pushing the envelope.....when a backflip is boring and double back does not win it....you really can't say it jumped the shark...I just hope they don't lose more riders pushing this envelope...

Whatever floats your boat I guess.... To me there's nothing more boring than watching baseball or golf, but that's just me. IMO FMX rocks!!

IMO these guys are in a league of their own! My heart races every time one of them approach the ramp. They have the balls to do things that most of us only wish we had.

FMX?....Is that the circus riders that couldn't hack it racing:hmm LOL:p

I will watch it if its on, but I would MUCH rather watch outdoor MX.
I've ridden a couple pro tracks, what I see those guys do gives me chills.

I always expect to see someone die in FMX. I never even thought of trying/doing that shit. I just wanted to go fast.

Are you one of those guys who sits half drunk in a sports bar or while at home on your couch criticizing the professional athletes in the game(s) you're watching? I hope not...

Most of those FMX guys came from racing and many of them were very fast! I don't blame them for going with the FMX $$. Very few can make a lifelong living from racing. And look at Travis Pastrana, even though he probably left a lot on the table he still kicked ass at the races!

LOL! NO, I'm not.

Just a guy who used to ride a lot, and would still rather be riding than watching anything on TV.

I wasn't bashing, I just have more respect for the guys grinding it out, doing the training and racing. It is a tough life, especially for the mid-level guys and below.

I don't blame them either, there is a lot more money to be made in FMX unless you can win titles racing. I don't recall any except Travis in FMX who has a title. Travis was fast as a kid, but if he was still racing, he would be in a wheelchair by now. That boy has always had a death wish.

I don't follow closely any more, but will always watch a race if I stumble onto it.

and no, I never had the balls to try it, or think of it. I was in my 30's when hart did his flip:p

Didn't it at first start out as a side show kinda dealio at MX events?
Perhaps it'll re-set back to that kinda presentation.

I'll never grow tired of it.
Really amazing to watch in person.

Anyone know how much money Madison made for the Arc de Triumph jump in Vegas?
