Could not resist. You know it's poison. 😄

We use the card for gas/groceries/big box retailers and online. Cash for nearly everything else. Restaurants, local markets, doctor co-pays, anything having to do with firearms and alcohol (I actually abstain from both of these types of items, so this is hypothetical, of course :) ) Local auto shop doing my brakes next week? Cash. Chimney sweep? Cash. Nursery? Cash. Butcher? Cash. Ranch supply? You guessed it.

There is a chipotle near me where their in line register took a dump for a couple days. So an employee stands outside and tells people the line is closed but you can order on the App and eat inside.

A week later I go in there and notice the line is much shorter than usual. I asked the manager if the register being out shifted people to other stores. She said business is the same, a lot of regular customers now order on the App and do not stand in line.

A majority of customers want efficiency as much as does the organization. They just need a reason to learn the technology to understand how much more efficient it is.

The only thing constant in this life is change.

It's strange how most people can't deal with that, and make themselves miserable by fighting it.

I've been guilty of it myself.

lol while I agree I can think of a lot of things society shouldn’t just roll over for.

We’re one bad earthquake away from FAFO when it comes to not having cash.

And just so we’re clear I love swiping the AMEX lol.

In Arizona?
I guess its all is based upon your perspective (relative) and surroundings.

All locations have a “weak” point that can expose how fragile the internet and electronics are.

Our USA currency (dollar) is still the backing of our economy.

We all know what a $100 bill gets you. I have my doubts on exchanging silver eagles in a time of panic. I really don’t think you’ll be able to exchange crypto in a time of panic. The value will be too volatile, and that assumes you have the means to transact.

I was just trying to buy my wife a goddamn burger lol.

ProTip:

The Internet was designed from the ground up NOT to have a single point of failure.

It was originally designed by/for the military, so that no matter Where we were hit, communications would Always be in place.

And Al Gore had zero to do with it! 😜

This is a pretty accurate read if you're interested...

Kind of hard to have internet with no electricity 😉🤣

Or access to information if data centers go offline.

“It will/can never happen” until it does….

Pretty sure this is why diesel generators and back up batteries were invented. HUGE buildings full of back-up power.

I can't remember which inmate it was, but someone on here used to install such systems, and knows far more than I do about it.

@Taboma maybe? I'm not sure.

Went to spring training baseball games last month, all 3 stadiums were cashless from point of entry to all concessions, the forced tip dealio not enthused:(
I bought a few T's at the bars T shop and it rang up with a 12% tip on it. I could decline but the total had the tip already factored in. This is me reaching up, grabbing 2 shirts off the hook my size and busting out the cash.

A few years back a fiber optic cable was cut in north Phoenix. It shut down tech to Northern AZ. No CC machines, no cell service and no internet except for Satellite...no I single point of failure, but a massive one. Couple days in the "dark ages"...

We did a grip of Co-Generation systems for Hospitals and manufacturing plants who could benefit from the by-product of heat.
As DarkHorseRacing stated, that was rrrr who built Data Centers.

You guys do know that, other than a large party mandatory built in gratuity, you can select zero on the credit card tip?

A $20 tip looks so much better cash than on the credit card slip.
Better to whom?
I’ll leave cash tips to bartenders.
Table service I’ll hand a 10 or 20 directly to the server if warranted, and also put 15% on the ticket.
There is a process for each place, and sometimes that cash tip isn’t really doing the staff a lot of favors.
I tend to eat alone when I go out so I typically sit at the bar.
I prefer it, and get better service than a table.
Going to dinner with a large group (other than my kids and grandkids) holds very little interest to me. There’s always someone who has to flex their wallet, or fuck with the staff or complain about the service or their food and especially the cc ticket.
A former friend of mine LOVES going out with a ton of people. I think he would literally die if he tried to go out by himself.
I swear the second he sees that ticket you just know the 10 minute speech is coming!!
Like clockwork, every…fucking…time.

Yes , I do see this coming, no I am not happy about it. This asshat society is f'n up many things. Cash processing is just a cost of doing business, handle it accordingly. When I worked retail, we banked every other day.
Restaurants want us to supplement their employees wages in with tips, yet up go the prices. I've seen cups at the register for server tips and cook tips.
Watched a millennial with a man bun have a hissy because they didn't take apple pay.
The more people use this crap the easier it will be to end cash.
Hell in a hand basket.
I'll be lucky to still have a lawn to yell at people to get off of.
