Any of you do them? Doing the 70.3 in Coeur d’ Alene with my wife and a few buddy’s in June and thinking of doing a full a couple months after. I’m up for anywhere cool so if your signed up let me know where and I might join 👊

Nice! I’ve done a couple half’s already but haven’t done a full yet 🤣 I want to but don’t want to if you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean, he did a full a couple of months ago and ended up taking 2 extra days off and lost 13lbs

I have done 9 sprints, 1 olympic and 6 half marathons. I tried to train for longer than that long term, but so far my body won't give, have fun.

Started with the Bud Light series in 80s (phase 1 before married) have done a bunch of 70.3s and a couple of fulls (CA and NZ) (phase 2 married, no kids). Semi-retired now and kids D1 swimmers in college (phase 3) and making one last run. Going well so far.

I understand that. My body hates me sometimes already too. My wife has RA pretty bad already and she’s only 30. She said now or never. Unfortunately she’s probably only 1 and done but at least she will be able to cross it off the bucket list.

I did Texas in 2013 and it was HOT!!!! At the time it was held the week before Memorial Day and our DNF rate was 18% (at the time an average DNF rate was 8-10%).

One of my best friends had done Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas. We were out at a bar one night and he made a comment that he had a different level of respect for people that had done Ironman. The next day I started playing around with the idea of doing Texas as I lived right by the course. I got one of the last general admission spots. I was in really good shape going in and was an avid crossfit competitor at the time. I didn't know how to swim efficiently though and I hated bike riding. I trained for about 6 months, took swimming lessons and worked on getting my ass ready for the bike (literally). I did the Galveston 70.3 about 5 weeks later tackled the full which to this day are the only 2 tri's I've done. IMO the full is more mental then physical. I told myself I was going to finish or get sent off in an ambulance and the rest I just dealt with as it came out on the course. I think a lot of people get this super intricate plan to follow and then something goes wrong and it messes with them. I brought it home in 15:10. Afterwards I got sent to the med tent for an hour ish for an IV. My dad thank god got my bike as I was out of it. After I got discharged I went to my parents house, ate an extra large pizza, had a beer and went to bed. The next day I went and got all my finisher stuff, spent way to much money on merchandise and had drinks with my friend that had started the whole deal. He was awesome and actually loaned me his bike for the event.

Having said all of that there is NOTHING like finishing a full. Looking back on it after all the time, expense, lost time with friends and family, etc, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I have a buddy that does them all over the world, and finishes high in his age group. The training and diet is an unbeleiveable commitment. I'm really impressed with you guys that put in that effort!
