Asking for a friend who is not sure where to go. He’s planning on 2 1350’s in a cat

If anyone has first hand knowledge of an insurer for such power it would be great.

V or cat style hull is going to make a difference.

When I had a 1,000+ hp they never asked what style. Maybe the make/model they knew what it was, I suppose.

They only wanted to know horsepower. The quoted rates were wild. It was fun while it lasted but I’m fine with not writing that check any longer lol

And the length. Apparently they do a HP/Foot equation and if the number is something they don’t like they don’t do it.

And who makes the engine. Seems Mercury Racing is better than say TCM.

M31. LOL An about face from our last conversation.

He can deal with the particulars of the coverage He's just looking for a company that will entertain this power to get the ball rolling.

That insurance agent is about to spit out his coffee when your buddy says what he wants to insure lol.

OK - Seriously - speaking from experience in marine and aero - I am not an insurance agent or professional:
1. Your buddy should be looking into liability, high deductible exotic insurance only
2. This will not be included under any umbrella policy, life insurance etc. He runs this it is on him
3. He better only take himself, wife and kids out on this boat exclusively. Anyone else will sue his estate if something happens. (best friends included)
4. The insurance policy he is buying is for the sole purpose of entering a poker run or regatta.
5. I have always loved and wanted an m31 1350 boat. For a long time there were only two build do to a myriad of reasons.
6. I am stoked for him and wish him luck - thumbs up

Yikes!

I think there is only (3) of those around, and if you look just a little the top speed on one of them for sure has been posted, and it’s SPICY!!! It’s insurable, but I’d bet the yearly premium starts with a 2, the second number is north of 5, and there are 3 more numbers to follow.

Yeah I spoke to him about that. Maybe a separate LLC I dont know. If you have money attorneys will find a way to it no matter the title or coverage.

lol good luck insuring that. Better have lots of experience and a clean record. It’s still gonna be super expensive. I just sold the green M31 with 1350’s and insurance was a huge factor.

I mean if insurance is 30k a year even, that seems like chump change lol. Considering the power plants delivered in a box are over 300k.

That doesn't make any sense, they asked me how much HP, I responded "260hp 305 small block chevy" and they said it was a big block. WTF? AAA said anything over 240hp is a BB.

That will be a tough boat to insure, plan on $30K annual.

Andy Holthe - 310-480-4285
Devin Wozencraft - 714-263-2626

Those two are your best bets from my knowledge.

Also it seems as though XInsurance (the Utah based company) is stepping up and writing policy for these boats as well. Maybe check with them?

Would be nice to have another game in town if that’s true.

M35 w/1350's brand new in 2016 for a first time boater of that caliber-$31k a year with Tres Martin school. Got a little cheaper after that first year by about $2k.

388 with 1350/1550's, boat is 8 years old i think, about $25k a year.

Did you used to own the red m35xl? I think I remember seeing it for sale years ago and it being a 16.

That’s because you don’t sell boats and get people insurance for a living.

Brad does think he can get him done however if he has cat experience.
How does one go about this, getting insurance if you don’t. Other than the obvious not getting a boat with 1350’s.

Those 500 outboards are sounding like a deal lol. No wonder they are so popular.
Definitely an argument for this, I know my outboard boat is much easier from that standpoint. May not have the same kick in the ass at WOT, but they sure do handle nice.

How does the insurance on a big OB compare?

Much less. Like 1/4 or 1/5. I think it still depends on the driving record and experience, but overall much less.

It’s only money 😂

I’m just having fun with you but it was an eye opening experience. Twin black motor 496’s sounds so much better nowadays 😂

Twin 1350 Nordic cat has to be getting close to 1 million. 3% a year seems fair considering the risk lol.

I just like to talk a little shit. I’m contemplating my life decisions every time I get a reg renewal, insurance bill, repair or service bill 😂

My new 37R/450R boat was $3800 first year and I think $4200 second year. I was 41 when I got it. Had faster previous cat experience.

Worst thing about insuring these is the lack of umbrella. Seams like you can only get a $2M? Don’t recall but leaves a hell of a lot of exposure!

I was considering Silver Lining before Preston bought it and was quoted 12.5k or 14.5k a year. But that boat was almost 10 years old then and had a value of about $475K. Not a $1.1M 388 skater.
