I’ve already been labeled a PC Clown and woke liberal here by the mob and the council so I’ll go ahead and weigh in without much restraint.
Having known Steve and his family for about 7 years now, I can say that my awareness has been completely turned on end.
The man’s jihad for his son, and the defense of the defenseless, is a promise he made and he will never stop.
It’s not my place to tell the story, but a small part of it transpired over a 6 week period during Christmas and January. While others were comparing drinks and gluttonous behavior, he and his wife were taking 12+ hour shifts at the ICU praying Brian made it another day with the tracheotomy and induced coma. Hoping his fragile lungs would survive the next round of ventilation.
6+ weeks, 24/7. Then the rehab.
How any of them came out intact is beyond me. I thought my test with Debbie was hard…but damn…and that’s just the latest scare.
Brian has a heart and love bigger than all outdoors, his dad and mom will never fail him as long as he is alive…ever.

It’s no wonder Steve left. He can’t be a part of this and keep his promise to his son. It’s a conflict.

I gotta say, when I read that word now it’s like a knife in the heart. I never would have expected that to happen, but it did.

I remember the thread where we were (for lack of a better term) educated about the use of that word, it struck me pretty good. I hardly ever used that word since I graduated HS and even then I never used it in a derogatory manner towards anyone in HS or after, I now can't remember the last time I used the word "retard", it's been wiped from my vocabulary of daily words.
