Do you have to worry about prop striking a gator down there?

I used to water ski in that river....If you took a fall, you would like to be picked up pretty quick. My buddy always brought a rifle with him, just in case. We would see gators almost every day on the water down there.

That is nuts! I guess you don't see many people jumping in the water to cool off.

I agree, I would like to boat in those places too. But we live so far away from all those places out west that, it would take several days too get to all of them. It's just such a long drive. I'm sure they feel the same way about Havasu/Parker.:thumbsup

Yea, it's 1800 miles from Orange County on I-10 to Springfield, LA. Long drive.

also with enough rdp members and people I know around this country in different states, I am sure you could get alittle help and offers for a bed for the night..and maybe some boat rides..

Actually, we would jump in the water all the time. Also, we would boat down to the mouth of river (in Lake Maurepas), and there was a sand bar down there we called "the beach", and we would stand around (100 people on a hot summer weekend) in waist deep water all day and drink beer.

You can see the light streak of sand in the picture below at the mouth of the river. I don't know anyone getting attacked while boating down there, but we would keep our eyes open.

The Prop Stop is about half way between highway 22 and the lake, with no roads leading to it (only get there by boat). The other bar (Blood River Bar) in the first picture is up river past highway 22 on the right fork where you can see a small harbor.
