Several inmates are attending this deal, so I thought it was worthy of a thread. I've been looking forward to this and I wasn't disappointed today. Tomorrow should be awesome!

For those entered in the racing today was qualifying. The staging lanes were loaded with familiar faces.

Sammy Maloof and fam and I'm the dork on the right.

Thank you for posting pics! If you get a chance to, post em up! My daughter works at In-N-Out up here, and was going to get me tickets...at the time I figured things weren't going to work out to get there, so I declined.

Great looking rides, even better they're running them!

Thanks for posting. We had planned on going to the event but have way too many things to do at the house today. We went tot he 70th event and it was awesome.

Plus was worried that no tickets would be available at the gate. Would hate to drive there and back without being able to get into the show.

The event is completely sold out so you're doing the right thing.

That Vega was my dream ride in High School, It never happened but I drove my $300 Vega for years after I rebuilt the engine in auto shop.

I remember pick-a-part ads that said they would buy any car, with the exception of Vegas and Ramblers.

So, how many people in the stands? Hard to believe they can sell this out while the NHRA Finals cant.
The event is 4 fold. A car show, a drag race exhibition, a celebration, and a concert. The entire event is sold out, however that number applies across the board, not just drag racing. I’d assume today is going to be packed.

My wife is at the information booth. She’s hard to miss, full leg sleeve. Say hi.

I wasn’t able to go today, but my wife and oldest son went, said it was fantastic. All the kids rides and games were free, lots to see and do. Our house overlooks the fairplex, hoping I can hear ZZ Top tonight.

we unloaded the car on saturday afternoon and were back there at 0700 sunday morning. they were expecting 700 cars where @bonesfab and i were, they got a little more than half. line was so long and they started letting people in so they had to stop letting cars in. a LOT of pissed off people, but those pissed off people didnt read the directions. and security was for sure high. full search of all vehicles. just to put in perspective, they sold 24,000 tickets for this event, the largest NHRA crowd they have had in the past couple of years is around 12-13,000.

Over all it was a good event, met some good people. burned some nitro and was home by 6pm.

It would be nice if they could take this show to Farmosa as well.

I agree, but at least for us it would have to be a pretty special deal. the travel time and hotels add up quick. im also not sure if the owners want this type of event, the like running stuff like the march meet and the reunion and then smaller events.

if your looking for a big car show and cars making passes, look into the nitro revival next month. 70 front engine cars (including both of ours) are signed up and will be making push starts all day. gassers and exhibition cars as well. it is by far my favorite event of the year.

When I entered at gate 17 Saturday morning (10:30am) they waived me right through. It looked like they were stopping every car and inspecting them. They didn't event stop me or my buddy Jim. We rolled right through straight up to the pits. I left the trailer overnight and drove in Sunday through gate 15 and all they wanted to see was my tow vehicle pass and arm band. They didn't check my cooler or anything. Painless and easy.

When I drove the return road past the car show the area looked packed.

They didn't check your cooler because they knew...... JG is strictly business! :) Thanks for the pics Jerry, I dropped the ball on this one. Used to race there a lot late 90's, and wish I would have entered our car. I know how awesome it is to run down that stretch and hope to do it again soon.
