Impeller??

I'm not too bright on this subject, but does anyone know if the shaft that holds the impeller is supposed to rotate, or if the forced water causes it to turn?
Took this one out of the Kalawain, ordering a new one. The shaft does not turn.

I am assuming this is a Manaflow pump?
Yes the shaft turns but it is directly connected to the camshaft with a notched button that so it wont turn unless the engine is running.

CP performance has those impellers as well as other places. Buy two and carry the extra in the boat.

That' a cam driven pump. So the shaft won't turn if the motor is not running. My old 1966 Wickens with a blown FE390 and same pump. They work great.
Sold this about 3 years ago.
