The pic /video below is my view from my front door. IMHO it's a great view and it's a large part of the reason we bought this property and built here over 30 years ago. 98% of the land in this view is Forest Service land. There is some private land (ag/ranch) also. The smallest private property owner of the 2% you see has given about 10 acres of his land to the mormon church.............that 10 acres is in the lower part of the picture - center right. In a few days the county planning commission is going to rezone that land so a church can be built there (against the general plan). 35 years ago I should have bought all of that private land...........friggin hindsight. Oh BTW....this isn't a fight about the mormon church, I'd be just as pissed if someone built a beer and titte bar out there............why screw up the view??????

That sucks! Only good thing I can think of is Mormons have $$$ so they'll likely build something nice and will maintain it. Hopefully it's a lodge style wooden building not something that sticks out like a sore thumb. Hindsight is 20/20 I agree.

Absolutely beautiful scenery though regardless!

Mormons be Mormons, they have a ton of influence in the area and I think they are a little miffed with the current popularity of transplants buying homes there. Nothing you can do, but you still have a slice of paradise there that many would envy.

Bummer to hear the news. I hope that it all works out for you. Our property over looks a Church/school parking lot. It allows open views and not much activity in the area except drop off/pickup times and Sundays. The difference is that we bought with it being there. Sadly so much land is being rezoned impacting other people that did not have that in the back or front yard.

At least they do maintain their stuff real good. Maybe it won't be too tall.

Used to love going to the Broken Spoke. It was real Texas Country out in the sticks. Now,, surrounded by units.

Best neighbors you could possibly ask for.
They have a crew that may show up during the permit process and construct a stick building to represent the footprint and sky print of what they want built. Might not be too bad. Probably will be mostly unoccupied and well maintained.

Several locations out here thru their doors open during the devastating earthquake and handed out food, flashlights, diapers, water, fuel, cooked three meals a day all available for anyone.
They had vast underground basements full of supplies. I'm talking 2 forklifts vast..

I would be concerned to have Pedophilia that close to home too. I would go to the meeting and express you displeasure with the idea. A good lawyer could most likely get the project stopped unless there is money being changed hands.

Knew some Mormons growing up. That's a church requirement to sustain your family for a minimum of 1 year. Families will have stored food in their garage/celler - at least all of those I knew (those that were capable). Interesting folk

Should not be too bad especially at our age?
I'm sure they might have somebody come knock on your door everyday to see how you were doing. They will come in pairs wearing black pants white shirt and a black tie.
He should be in good hands..

This is NOT an anti mormon - anti church thing!!!!! It's an anti building in my view thing. This is one of the last untouched/developed valleys in southwest Utah and they wat to fuk it up with a big ass building right in the middle of it.

There will be plenty of parishioners willing to pay handsomely to own a home with that view of the church or temple. The bells on Sunday will be a nice touch.

Yep, I'd be pissed too. I built my house 35 years ago, awesome views and lots of space between neighbors. Things have changed around us and we're facing the fact that it's time for a change. If it were just one or two issues we might tough it out but it's many big changes that we don't like. I'm 65 and she's right behind me.

You realize the Mormon church is one of the most wealthiest well funded organizations, right? They’re absolutely massive and the level of infrastructure and businesses they own is extremely vast.

A good lawyer isn’t doing shit to stop the project except siphoning off Gramps’ money until Gramps runs out of money lol
