And if you don't mind being far from the river, Paso Robles/Atascadero is just beautiful.

only 30 minutes to naci:thumbsup Central coast is nice and so are the people compared to soCal.

If money wasn't an issue I'd go to Sunset Beach (ocean front) or Huntington Harbor or Laguna

I've always like Mission Viejo. There's a good chance my job will be sending me to So Cal in 2 years and that's where we will most likely be house hunting. Im a little concerned what the commute to LA will be like twice a week but it should be manageable since it will only be twice a week.

Leave extremely early, and drive home late.;)

I have lived in So Cal my entire life and like the beach communites. Believe it or not they are not as croweded because no one lives on the water.

I moved to SoCal 13yrs ago from NY
I picked Corona for location, I travel for work a lot so the freeways for me was important.
have access to all major free ways and Ontario airport has been a great home port for out of town travel
The only change I have made was moving to Norco after 2yrs
Big lots 1/2 acre and up and still a down home feel

On the other hand can't wait to move the hell back out of Ca

Huntington Beach to Laguna Beach.

That's because they cost a fortune.

Well sold our place in Tehachapi, CA and are headed to Bakersfield "NW Rosedale Area". Not out of Ca, but the wife is happy still being close to family "My mom will be two streets over" which will be great for babysitting.

After looking for a few weeks found a place and put in an offer on the second home we found considering the inventory as well as how much the home appealed to us it was a no brainer.

Now the wonderful waiting period of a short sale. Any of the Bakersfield peeps on here give me a ring and we"ll grab a beer once the dust settles.

One of the very best "Bang for the buck" beach communities is definitely San Clemente. 30 minutes to SNA and an hour to LAX if you fly international, has pretty much everything you need within 10 - 15 minutes and the housing prices are some of the most reasonable for any beach community in Southern California.

Now with that having been said........I moved to Havasu for lots of reasons......specifically to escape the "Peoples Republik of Kalifornia" from a taxation and "Big Brother" standpoint!

Havasu is always in my thoughts, but more so for retirement. If things were to go south within my industry there isn't a very large pool of jobs to select from so I'm a ways out before we're there enjoying the "good life".

LOfuckingL. Do you not go outside of your house? Only time it feels quite or not crowded is the winter time. Lived in Newport for many years and its a focking zoo all summer long. Half way tolerable in the winter.

So.............not to sound like the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce but.......this is really not the case in SC. The reason????????????? ........there are almost no hotel/motel rooms in town so the out of towners are pretty much there only for the day and not into the evenings.....the restaurants aren't overcrowded.

I've lived in Newport as well as Carlsbad and I agree that these places are focked in the summer.....we used to say thank God for Labor day now we get our beach back till Memorial day.......was/is NOT like that in SC......Just sayin'

East County in SD is still my top spot.

25 mins to downtown
30 to the beaches
No traffic
200 miles to martinez
Good schools (granite hills/steel canyon/valhalla areas)
Warm weather
Clear skies when the beach is overcast
Easy to get some land.

I want to move back so bad.

We're moving up to Incline Village NV. Beautiful country. It's a beautiful country where all the signs and EVERYONE speaks English, the tax laws are great and still doable for a few Havasu trips a year. Still only a few hundred yards from CA.

It really depends on what, and how long you want to move to where you are going. If it is just schools and a decent way of life for 10-15 years, there are many areas in Corona, Temecula, and Murrieta that are great (we moved from Vista, northern San diego county back in 2006) and we don't regret it for one moment, well except owning a home worth about half what we paid, but we love where we live. That being said, my son will graduate in June of 2015, and if my wife and I have our way, we will be leaving Commie-fornia in the rearview mirror. I loved all of San Diego County my entire life. Surfing in Carlsbad, skating in Del Mar, riding dirt bikes all over, nothing but the best memmories. But it isn't like that anymore. The neighborhood where I grew up, I wouldn't point an enemy there. The middle class areas are getting harder and harder to find, and when you find them, they are ridiculously priced...see the comment about Carlsbad and what $650 will get you. Some of the beach communities still have it going on, but you will pay handsomely to live there.

That being said, Fallbrook still has a rustic feel, Valley Center as well, as well as many areas of east San Diego County. But be prepared, nothing is as it seems out there either. I have a nephew that is an east county San Diego Sherriff, and the stories he can tell you about east county........:thumbsdown

Big thanks to Pendleton also, I think that helps SC with the crowds ...... to far from SD and at the tail end of OC.

Pfft. The beast county neighborhoods I listed are hardly bad. If we're talking El Cajon at Mollison/Madison, sure. But I didn't. And i have TWO friends who both became East County deputy Sheriffs after growing up there and still live there.

Said the guy using his hot wife as a cover up:D Where did you guys move to? Not looking forward to the wait, but we really liked the house and I wasn't waiting around for another one to pop up.

How long did it take you guys?
