..or prayer, or pretty much any good thoughts.
My wife found out last night that one of her old students, Zion, is in New York city. Apparently, he has a cyst in, I believe, a ventricle in his skull. This can cut off circulation, and be fatal. Phoenix Children's was going to do a craniaotomy (sp), but a surgeon in NY saw the MRI's and contacted the family. He's a leader in children's brain surgery, and felt it can be done laproscopically, and avoid the risks that come with the other. Mom and Zion spent all day yesterday, intensive pre-op stuff. Zion went into surgery a couple hours ago.
The parents are the adoptive parents of 4 special needs kids. I don't know how they do it, but they do. Dad is home, with the other three. Luckily, his work is on winter break. Zion and mom will be in NY for the next week.
It's scary as a parent, and stressful for a family. It being Christmas I'm sure compounds this. My wife is notably upset, it is one of her students from a few years back. Being a special needs kid, makes it harder for her maybe.
A thought, a prayer, positive energy...if you have a moment to spare. I believe in it helping, it surely can't hurt. The family could use it, I'm sure.
