HOLLY MOLLY Went to take a few pictures of jetski parts I'm selling. Fumbled with the new I-phone4 and dropped it into a empty trash can with 5" of water on the bottom.... " I-sink" :bash:

Grabbed it as fast as I should but water was dripping out of it. turned it off immediately. shook the heck out of it and blew the open area's. took a hair dryer to it..... most of it started working, but doesn't have the speaker working. and a accessory noise warning thing keeps popping up???

Anything else I can do? HOPE I bought the insurance.......

Put it in a ziplock bag of rice. The rice will pull the moisture out.

Dropped a point and shoot camera off the front of our boat last year. Scooped it up, ripped the battery out immediately and let it air dry for three days before turning it back on. Worked like a charm. I've also heard that putting a wet electronic device in a bag of white rice for several days will pull all of the moisture out. Good luck!!!

I phones suck, always have. They're ok, but they could have made them better. Try a Droid, its not perfect, but almost.

:bash:

Why do you think the I-phone's suck? I personaly think its the coolest phone / or Elec device I've ever purchased. The thing is amazing.

Since I cant get on YouTube at work maybe someone else can insert it here?

Toby, this happened to my daughters 3gs when she dropped it in the toilet..I sat it outside for a couple of days in the sun, got if working but the screen never came back 100%. Water damage is not covered by apple care or their warranty, we tried.. If you can't get it going you'll probably end up paying the 199.00 for a replacement. All the stores have a scope they stick down the headphone port to see if there's a red dye that's been set off when it gets wet.. At the store they do try to fix it on the spot, they might be able to.

Biggest mistake people make is turning them on too soon. The longer you can leave it off to dry before you turn back on is best.

Ouch! Hope that works out for you!

Story reminds me of the day I sold some props to Grey Goose for $600, driving home I got rear ended, cost me $1000 to fix the car :grumble:

Toby try the rice deal.. If it doesn't work, and you don't have a warranty, there is a guy in encinitas that can fix it. He takes i-phones apart and puts new screens on them etc.. If it doesn't work out for you I'll track down his # for you.

My son ran his iphone through the front loader washer, worked fine after sitting on the heat vent for a couple days, at least for the last 6+ months.

Absolute best vehicle I've ever owned by far. So it broke down once due to some bad smog bs sensors at 108K. Far better than I can say for any Chevy I've owned. And I've owned a few, until I finally gave up on them.

Chevy's are garbage. But its like they say, one man's garbage is another mans treasure :D

None of my Chevy's have every left me stranded. My last one went over $120k with out a hiccup. Damm I miss that truck. My new one has 60k on it and no problems either. As for the Fords in my family. :smackhead

LOL, they all SUCK! Pulled my 19k pound toyhauler home from Havasu yesterday. 110 all the way from Havasu to Palm Springs running the AC and never skipped a beat. Of course I did pass a Chevy with a TH and the hood up :D I guess the LLY engines have a history of overheating :D

I chose a Ford because Chevy doesn't make a truck big enough for my trailer, unless you get in to that Kodiak thing (which is the MDT version of a Pontiac Aztek, IMHO)

But what if you get your Dodge truck wet? Do they break down more often than a wet Cheeby? How bout a Ford?

Which one can you sink in the river, pull it out, and still have it run?

Do you pull the battery out? Or just pack it in rice?

Inquiring minds wanna know!!!

I didnt follow your other PSD thread Vic, what was the issue a few weeks ago? I've personaly had good luck with both my Powerjokes and D-max's. Never have had one break down. Although, never keep one long enough to do so...:p Love to have a new 2011 F450 4x4 dually, I hear they are the Shitz!!! A new DW would look realllllly good behind that:D

WELLLLLLL, after resting in the rice bag all morning the phone powers up and is working OK. A accessories blurg is poping up from time to time, but everything else is good so far. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Toby! What's up?

I also leave mine on the cable/DVR box overnite. The slow low heat dries them up pretty good. Did it to my old BB and it ran another 6 months.

Smoked the EGT sensor (1 of 3) after awhile of driving in limp mode (better than 150mi) it went to hard fault. So it actually didn't leave me stranded, I chose to keep on going :D

I wanted a 11' but will wait until 12 or so. 1st year model scares me.

I hear ya...... will prob get one in a few years at the auction. I like the half price gig. Not a Baller thats 4-sure.

I have gone through this rodeo before also. Just not with my I-phone. A key distinction is "How wet is it?" This is key. If it was a quick dip and you choose to power down, just dry it out. If it gets really wet, remove the battery (if possible) then rinse with distilled water. Now dry the equipment. Distilled water does not conduct electricity, add any salts, calcium or just about anything else and it does though. The distilled rinse removes contaminants that the water washed in.

It has made a difference for me several times.
