Is Tige gone or still around. They did a great job marketing, but the rigging was below par for a Bayliner.

Fountain delisted and went back to a privately held company. Too much money to be on the board.

Yep and my FPB stock went down with it. Didn't have much got some for fun so I didn't lose much..

Didn't Force re-open? And do they still have the Cole molds? I'm wondering about the 22 Nighthawk in particular. Always liked that boat.

I thought Ultra went under??? I spoke with a guy at the river a month or so ago. He had Ultra rig a 27ft shadow for him and he was told by ultra that they will no longer be building boats.(hybernation)?

Ultra up in corona is building boats still. I'm pretty sure they are building a 23 deck and a 21 stealth right now.. At least that's what I heard?

That lake has some serious hardware on it. Love that Donzi just because....Dare to be different :thumbsup

I guess if I could afford to play there I'd have something powered by two 950 HP pump gas 600" Fords (naturally aspirated of course, probably with a single carb)

I'm assuming by the add on PB they are still in biz.

Speaking of KMC, has anyone ever seen one out on the water?

Yep. The one in their add cruises up and down the lower all of the time. Reminds me of the 21 mod v openbow Ultra use to make...

Donzi makes an awesome boat! Very much an open water boat. Gives the feeling of being able to go through anything. And yes, they do look much bigger on the trailer than in the water.

We have their molds in storage at Eliminator...been 4-5 years since they laid one up...:bash:

I remember Al building a couple in the past years. He has his personal 224 which is probably about 2 years old. He also did an all red 22 with a 300xs on it. 100+ mph with stock Mercury power. I also know that he did a 22 with twin 2.5's on the back of it not too long ago.

Not sure what the deal is with Force. They do not have the Cole molds.

Supposedly Hawaiian, Commander, and Aftershock are all back open again and sharing a building.

So, have any manufacturers closed their doors for good (as in poroducing no more boats under that companies name)?

True but they all went bankrubt so you won't see those names used if they do produce anything.

Everybody is calling it Hybernation.. Not out of business, but will be back when the market turns.. It's a politically correct era we live in Phebus..

In my mind if you call and the #'s disconnected.. Or if you finally do get a hold of someone and want to build a boat, and they can't build it? Then they aren't currently in business, or rather they are out of biz. What they do in the future is something else, even if they do come back under the same name.

I'm not sure what or how many companies fit that profile.

I'm surprised that they could hibernate, and that creditors wouldn't force them into bankruptcy.

Nowadays it costs a lot of money just to keep a shop. EPA, AQMD, Fire Dept, etc. all have their hands out, and then there is a little thing called rent.

I think a lot of builders are hanging on getting what they can of summer sales. Come winter, who knows? I was talking to a person in the industry the other day and the names of builders that were in serious trouble (according to him) shocked me. Some of the names were expectable, but others made me say wow.

The only thing challenging about that combo is the single carb. Well now that I think about it I'd need 950 by 6,500 rpm so I better figure for a 632" maybe with a sheet metal T/R and have power to spare. ;)

I always liked Stokers. Broc Glover had one, Mod -VP with a 225 Yamaha OB on it. That boat hauled ass and turned damn well. Broc almost through me out of it a couple of times. :grumble:

Wow.. Birds of a feather?

Is it a rumor or is it true?

It is true. I have been there and seen it. The day I was there, Dennis from Carrera was being shown around to see if he was interested. They are basically doing maintance work but not actaully laying anything up.

As far as the westcoast is concerned, the only ones I'd lay money on to survive the recession (bearing in mind we don't know how many years this will continue) would be Schiada, Hallett and probably Nordic.. Nordic scaled way back though. Every other builder that I can think of off the top of my head, I'd say is a gamble at best...

Those companies have the financial backing to weather the storm on skeleton crews for a long, long time. That and I don't believe that any of the 3 have any debt to speak of what so ever which helps.

Just an uneducated guess though so take it for what it is..
