I saw something today that made me want to cry...

I was working in the bad part of town today( you know the place that I won't go after dark even if I'm armed to the teeth). On one of the corners known for prostitution, I saw a girl that was maybe 14 selling herself. I drove around the block planing on picking her up.( to try and talk her into letting me drop her off at a run away shelter thats run by a friend or at the very least buy her a meal) After 4 red lights, I made it back and she was gone... some SOB must have picked her up.

I admire your willingness to get involved, however, if I were a cop and that was actually a sting, I wouldn't buy your story. Make a phone call to the po po with a good description, perhaps stick around and describe who does pick her up, but don't try to pick her up on your own. It could turn out bad in so many ways.

They can't arest you unless you say the "magic words" ( sex for money) So I would not be worried about a sting... now getting picked up by a roving cop would be another story...

Nope, but they can detain you, call the better half with the allegation and make your life suck. Or, you can stop to make the pickup and the girl could be looking to do an armed robbery etc etc etc.

Detaining me before They had proof on my intent is a one way ticket to me getting a very nice check from the PD( not to mention them getting a but load of bad press)...besides as soon as I said " can I take you too a shelter for run aways or buy you a meal" Any cop with half a brain would idenfied themselfs or told me to beat it... I would never let them in the truck with out asking that.

Never really thought about armed robbery.

I worked in downtown LA/Hollywood and the streets are full of people, social workers, Church missionaries,, aid agency, action groups kinda people trying to help kids like this.
You could easily be nailed as a John.

Never really thought about armed robbery.

People are detained and released every day, not a violation of your rights to detain you for investigation. Armed robbery is a big possibility on the streets, happens everyday too. I've experienced both.

Yellowboat, Law dogs deal with the lowest possible life forms on earth everyday. They come in all shapes, sizes and packages. They have heard every story you could make up and then some. I challenge you with all your knowledge and super wisdom to go and try to RESCCUE a working girl and then tell the cops your story. I am with Kachina on this, it will be more trouble for you, than good for your new gf. Then go get your lawyer and pay the price to fight an uphill battle in court that you will most likely loose because a police officer witnessed you picking up a street walker. Then it is your word against there's. Ridiculous man, you cant save every runaway or stray dog in the world and you certainly don't want to put yourself in an embarrassing situation doing it. Who would believe your story.

I was going to say what Kachina said but he already posted. You then get all defensive about it and talk about getting paid and doing battle in court. What is it? I have read these boards for years I just don't post much.What I do read in your posts is your dislike for public safety folks. You need to get over it dude. And have fun explaining to everyone you know including your wife or gf or mother if you get detained,arrested or charged with being a pervert.
