Yep , big Ole 460 CI , about 7 MPG

this one has a diesel with a ats turbo and a gear spliter. for the money its actually not bad if it runs good. I don't need another one and mine is in much better shape. Just something about the lines bring back fond memorys of going to the lake as a kid and the girls I dated in hs in mine...

I ended up buying a 95 crew long bed F-350 dually about 2 years ago. I needed the 1 ton for the jumbo cab over and was looking at newer models. I just couldn't spend the $25k + asking price for a 12 year old truck with 200,000 miles on it. The new ones are just ridiculous these days!

So I am driving my 95 square body for camping and such. The 7.3 is a great motor, it has 100,000 miles on it and I am in about $9K total. For something I only drive 4-5,000 miles a year it works well.

Besides I like the looks of a clean square body Ford.

We have an 85. 460 4 speed on 33's. It will get 10mpg no matter what. Loaded, unloaded, towing, driving 50, driving 75. Only has 77k original miles on it.

Yeah its a fe motor. Came in 2 valve and 4 vale heads. From late 50s to 60s

4x3.5 bore/stroke. The 2 valve models made low 200s ( I want to say 215) the 4 valves made 3000 at mid 4k rpms.

Very good. [emoji106][emoji106] my dad had one in his 66 ford p/u with a 4 speed with a granny low.
Damn good truck for a lot of years

In the early 90's, I had an '85 F150 with "Explorer" badging on the bed. It was two tone (blue on blue) and had an I6 300 with a 3 speed on the floor. That truck was bullet proof......

I am the exact opposite. I dig a mid eighties Silverado.

No such thing. In the mid-80's GM only made C/K Pick-ups. C for 2wd, K for 4wd. Any names associated with them were trim levels. I don't think the Silverado trim came along till the truck redesign in the late 80's, though maybe it was in play earlier. The big-money square body truck would have been a Scottsdale trim.

I wish I wouldn't have sold my 85 3/4 ton GMC.

Yes, you are right. First run of the "Silverado" wasn't until 1988. I remember my dad bought one of the first 1988 Silverado Extended Cabs off the lot at Scott Irvin Chevrolet in Valencia. He sold our red K-5 Blazer to get it. That truck was also one of the first trucks lowered by Big Johns in SCV. He had a 4/7 drop with Boyd wheels and at first a snap on leather bed cover that was eventually replaced by a gaylord hard tonneau cover.

The Scottsdale trim was the bare bones truck. No headliners, rubber floors. The High Sierra was the loaded model. I had a 87 half ton long been. The last year before they switched to the new body style. It had the fuel injected 350 in it. I kick myself in the ass everyday for selling it.

One of my best friends in High School had an 84 1/2 ton Suburban (diesel even), it was a Scottsdale and loaded, or maybe it was just loaded compared to the pick-ups. It had full headliner and carpet along with power windows and locks and "premium" sound system. That thing was a beast.

Of course that has been 25 years ago, I could be remembering it wrong. :D

The FE's are great motors. I pulled the 352 out of my 62 Galaxie and put a 390 in it. Eventually sold that car.

100_0763.jpg

Here's my truck. Use it for work. 10 miles per gallon towing or not. 11 MPG downhill with a tail wind.

Pardon the T.J.

Silverado was available in 1985.
I bought one new and had it sitting around until 2003 before I donated it to a Homeless Kid that just got a job with a very good friend of mine who is a plumbing contractor in the Los Angeles area. The truck was restored in 1998. 2 days after I signed off the paperwork the kid totaled the truck.
I wanted to kick my buddies ass into the next Galaxy.

My friend has this 94 f350 centurion, 7.3 turbo diesel.

Its for sale and the only think keeping it out of my driveway, at this point, is that its 2wd. Although I still think about picking it up and slamming it.

I grew up around the Ford OBS trying to push the 7.3 further than it ever went. So many great times with my buddies.

This is my preferred body style. Had a 74 with a 390 3 on the tree. I didn't realize how good a truck it was until I traded it for a new ford ranger in 1986. Oh what a dummy I was the ranger turned out to be the biggest pos I ever owned.
