So I found out my high school girlfriend died last week.
We were together almost two years fall of 79 to summer of 81.
Anyway she went to Sac state and I continued on my senior year.

Fast forward 2014 me and wife were on a cruise and lo and be hold I ran into her.
Long story short we chit chatted quite a bit.

Wow. So sorry man, it must have felt a little like fate when you ran into her so randomly....

May she rest in peace.

A girlfriend I had in High School passed in 2002. Fuck Cancer. We weren't real serious, she was just a sweet girl and a love to be around. This was at a Christmas Dance, Senior year in 1972.

.., That is very sad… Not a high school sweetheart…she was just entering high school and I had just left… Pretty serious year or so…She has had so many medical issues over the last 25 years it’s astounding… Going to meet up with her and her sister at an event this afternoon… she is 72 or 73 it looks like she’s 40… She keeps getting through it all for some reason???…

Thanks everyone. I was feeling a little sappy last night. Saturday nights were a popular night for me to want to text chat with her.
Actually the last text I sent her was Saturday the 4th which is the day she passed. I found out Sunday morning through a FB post on her page from her kid.

I’m not sure if funny or ironic but my wife works admissions at a hospital in Sacramento. She knew I was FB friends with Linda. She came home that Monday and asked me if I was still in any contact with Linda. My wife recognized her name. I told her I knew that she had died.
Kind of tripped us both out.

I read this last night, but couldn't think of the right words...if that makes sense. I think the loss of someone you were close to, even many years back, reminds you both of feelings you had, and your own mortality.
Not long ago I found out that "the girl before", my last girlfriend before I met my wife, was severely injured by a faulty IV pump delivering pain meds. I found this out last year, but it happened in 05. In fact, it happened when I was spending my month in ICU. It truly floored me. She was a brilliant, beautiful lady, but now will rely on others for care. Truly a testament to how unfair life can be.
Someone casts the dice, and we are pretty much along for the ride at times. We can't control the feelings we have about them.

Had a friend DFO in our 40s. Really hit me.. Told my ex and that it effected me hard. She didn’t get it. If it wasn’t for him you wouldn’t have come over where we were talking to talk to him, I wouldn’t have thought you were hot and made him tell you, I wouldn’t have gone on my first river trip. Etc. She was just “hmm”. Whatever.

Very Sorry for your loss

Right after I got out of High School, a gal I dated for a bit got ran off the road by some fuck and hit a telephone pole and died. She was a sweetheart

Thanks Terry. That’s actually a part of why I’m bothered by it. I love being married and so glad I met Susan to get me through to where I am now. 😊

Oh man that sucks!

The way I look at it -
God has a plan for everyone ! Young / old, bad / good, a lot of great people get taken away to early! Celebrate life and the people in your life

I know a few people that worked hard to create something and sold it off to enjoy their hard work efforts! Then either passed or had a spouse pass away suddenly…

Alanis wrote a song about this.

"An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery, and died the next day"
