Is a compressor sound blanket good? do they really work? When my AC kickes on it is loud, would this work?

Nope, nope and nope. The compressor relies on ambient air flow for cooling.
My old POS Goodman had a really hard hit at startup and I put a hard start kit (capacitor) from Amazon for about $15 and it really helped.

That was my first thought. But I'm not an HVAC guy.

I was told definitely not a good idea, traps to much heat. Could you put a soft start unit on it possibly. My old unit sounded like it was being dropped on the roof and coming through every time it kicked on…..I sure don’t miss that!

Check compressor mounting bolts, compressor should kind of float on bushings, or did they come loose?

My AC is not only loud starting but loud running. I can live with it just wanted to see if I could get it quit. Can't wait until it breaks and get a new one under home warranty.

Yeah I recently replaced and older cheap 3 ton Goodman with a 5 ton inverter heat pump unit and this thing is like night/day difference in noise and electrical consumption.
