Wonder if Elon's ventured over to Flight Radar 24 and noticed that Ashville and the surrounding river valleys are currently swarming with helicopters with routes indicting they are traveling back and forth, as they load up and deliver relief supplies ?
Best intentions and heightened emotions aside, unrestricted volunteer civilian helos not operating in communication and cooperation with an organized relief effort could present a flight risk for others and themselves.
I'm sure the airspace restrictions are put in place for a reason, namely pilots and often those being rescued.

For years those of us living in wildfire areas have been frustrated knowing we have several bases around here with heavy lift helos that could be dropping water.
Only recently have these military pilots been trained under an extensive program and are gradually being utilized to assist larger fires, using detachable water buckets.

I wonder if Mayor Pete knows that there are people being told to leave or they will get arrested while he is tweeting that there are no restrictions?

He is lying, everybody who is paying attention knows he is lying, but it will be reported that everything is being done and there are no restrictions... Because he is lying.

And yes, the restrictions are there for a reason... No way in hell do they want these people getting to a ballot box..

Don't care if this has been posted already. If it has, it needs to be posted again and then a hundred more times. Absolutely infuriating.
Haven’t seen this one but a similar one from Western Massachusetts where whole hotels were full because of immigrants and the proprietors weren’t very pleased about the questions from the YouTuber doing the story.
BYW, both of these places a just are few hours from where I live. 😡

I see so you’re cool with thousands of people being left with nothing and allowed to have further death cause the government hasn’t moved in yet? Cool and noted.
Air space safety is one thing but it’s been seven days that these independent helos have been flying supplies without any help from fema or the government.
More than clear enough that this is being handled worse than Katrina where it was proven that FEMA was an absolute failure to the American people.

I believe the videos of the people who are being helped by the private civilian helicopters, who have not been helped. I believe the pilots. Hard to fake the reactions. But sure, believe Mayor Pete and Kamala. For sure they are telling the truth.

Meanwhile, today, while Mayorkas says we do not have money to help with the hurricanes, we have this...

Yeah, I absolutely believe they are not being helped. The Glenn Beck/Cory Mills clip is the fucking proof. They are there on the ground. "Maybe move out by the road so people can find you if they can get to town? We had 8 people in the van and I am the only one who saw you.." "Oh, tomorrow we are going to try to move over there.."

A week later there are finally GOV helicopters buzzing the area...something that should have happened before the rain even stopped. MULTIPLE posts from air crews with the 82nd airborne saying they want to help but were being told to stand down because they didn't have orders. Feckless incompetence. Period.
As far as danger to the air crews goes.... how hard is it to grid the area and develop a traffic pattern? FEMA is a fucking joke.

Just like Maui......follow the money.

A politician is blatantly lying. Elon has people there trying to bring communications and relief. The politician claims there are no restrictions. The boots on the ground do not agree.

You can pretend this is much ado about nothing, but given this particular politician and his record of disappearing to go chestfeed the baby he bought, etc, and the fact that many people from different circles who are all reporting the same circumstances, I tend to believe the people claiming this is actually happening.

In this case, apparently said politician decided to call Elon, and Elon says he is hopeful this can be resolved "soon"

I wonder if something was happening?

There is so much misinformation bullshit going on, it has forced a federal agency to set up a website to attempt to contradict it. This thread is a perfect example of why?

The misinformation trolls have come out from under the bridge………

Some of you can’t handle the truth…….. LOL

Another fact is that the BIden Administration has stated that they are low on financial resources and may run out of money before the end of the hurricane season. Also a fact, the Biden Administration has miraculously found $157,000,000 to send to Lebanon to help the people recover from a man-made disaster. This is ludicrous! Biden and Blinken should be tried for treason. Hezbollah is our enemy. They are a terrorist organization. The people of Lebanon have allowed them to live within their country for decades. And we give them money before our own people?

Mayorkas- FEMA's funding may run out

Blinken to send $157 million to Lebanon

Rumors and misinformation likely do exist. The prior video from X with Glen Beck speaks volumes. And it is FEMA doing the talking. If rumors and misinformation are included in this video, they are coming from these, on the scene, FEMA workers. Their approach to this emergency situation appears far less than adequate.

Far too often my experience with ‘help’ from the government has not been good. I’ve commonly encountered lower level Box Checkers and upper level Cake Eaters. The box checkers are there to complete a basic level task. Insufficient common sense applied to the task is often the case. The cake eaters are the boss men/people. They are there to shake hands, meet people and protect their own jobs and positions.

In the video, the guy carrying the folding chairs was completing a task and announcing the ‘door to door‘ efforts of FEMA. But, he had no idea when that would begin. The on site boss person was also unable to say when that would begin. She was dealing with having ineffectively placed the only FEMA customer service van in the Asheville area. She hoped to have it in a better location tomorrow. But, you could hear her voice perk up a bit when she was introduced to the politician.

And Ashville is the "big" city. If anyone thinks the small towns are getting the help they need, ok...

Scumbag Obama’s pos former adviser David Axlerod says “upscale Asheville” liberal voters will find a way to vote, but trumps rural voters won’t..

It's not like he is making the point, is it? R+13 except the city limits of Ashville. They will get services back. The villages around? Not so much. Harris will win NC by 10k votes..

Zoom out, when I've looked they're spread out up the valleys out to 80 miles from Ashville proper. Some indicating round trips to Ashville Regional, others including Army Cherokees from other area LZ's.
This morning when I looked, I counted eight and I'm sure there's some I'm not seeing.

I see three in the close up in the immediate vicinity of Asheville Regional you posted, but I was surprised to see so many fixed wing in the area.

This article as on local NBC News Last Monday, 9-30

" Three members of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department were seriously injured in a vehicle crash near the Texas-Louisiana border Sunday while on a support mission for those endangered by Hurricane Helene, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Sunday near Interstate 20 and Highway 80 near the border of Texas and Louisiana, according to a statement from the city of San Diego and the SDFD. San Diego firefighters were on I-20 when the crash happened, according to Mónica Muñoz with the SDFD.

"Three SDFD firefighters were seriously injured in a crash on their way to assist with the Hurricane Helene response. All are receiving medical care in Louisiana. I ask San Diegans to keep these first responders and their families in your prayers," San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria said in a post on social media.

The three San Diego firefighters involved in the crash were members of the department's Urban Search & Rescue California Task Force 8, and were part of a 48-person team headed to North Carolina in an F-350 truck to assist in relief efforts. The three injured were one battalion chief and two captains.

They were flown by air ambulance to Louisiana State University Hospital in Shreveport. All of their conditions range from moderate to critical.

The remainder of the task force team members were sent to Waskom, Texas, where they will wait for further instructions, officials said."

And yes, the last sentence is certainly cause for WTF !!!! Hopefully by now they've been deployed, unless their intended "River Rescue" mission is no longer required ???

I’ve heard and read both sides of this helicopter rescue fiasco. Couple days ago it was the retired cop I think that was threatened with arrest by a local fire chief (not sure how that would work but he caved). Then day before yesterday the weather channel was interviewing Greg Biffle, former NASCAR driver and helicopter pilot saying he made numerous rescues.

So a couple of things, the amount of air traffic most likely does not present any more a hazard to the pilots than on most any busy weekend day. But make no mistake, TFRs are designed to keep unauthorized civilian aircraft out of a designated area.

FEMA is largely a bookkeeping exercise. It is there to reimburse state and local governments during a state of emergency. During a major "incident" one of the first things you do after establishing a command is set up a finance officer who is to keep track of all expenses. This is before you deploy any assets other than those already involved. And to get that money you have to follow FEMAs playbook and structure. So yeah, the government won't do anything without a bureaucracy in place.

Hahaha, like the government doesn’t put out all kinds of BS messaging! Should we talk about Covid?

They claim on that site they only spend money on emergencies, yet where in that statement do they explicitly say the border runners don’t constitute an emergency in their liberal minds?

Everybody lies, but politicians and bureaucrats do it for a living. I’m sure they tell themselves it’s all for the greater good.

Been following the former cop story. He responded and made several trips into and out of the mountains. On his final trip out he stopped to help a couple trapped where their house used to be. He landed, loaded the wife in and left his son with the husband, with the plan to return to pick up the husband. He dropped the wife off at a command center several miles away, the incident commander on site told the helo pilot he would be arrested if he returned for anyone else. He did go back for his son but left the husband on the mountain under threat of arrest. Husband and wife were subsequently reunited by a ground rescue team. In all of my training I've never heard the ICs have law enforcement powers unless they are LEO to begin with.

Personally I would have told the IC that they can come find me later, I'm going back for the husband. In fact here is my address, call LE and I'll meet them there this evening.

People are still in prison from the Hurricane Maria Puerto Rico FEMA debacle, from both sides of the ocean.…ever wonder how a U.S. civilian citizen can buy pallets of surplus MRE’s in a country with a “food insecurity” rating of 38%-40%??
Paying for shit twice and no one getting fed sounds about right for us taxpayers.

The good news is they finally got orders cut for the Army..

Edit to add: Notice he said "as of today".... The small civilian helos were delivering at 200 to 600 pounds per trip, which is amazing if you have not seen help yet. Now, with the big army, they can deliver pallets. Just need to get it close enough to where it's needed..
