Humidity vs Dry Heat

I have been in El Paso, TX for the last 3 days. This is just my opinion of the heat. Not much difference between Sarasota hot humid summer weather and El Paso desert dry weather. Now I know El Paso isn't a very nice place to be, but the weather is probably the same as Phoenix and Havasu. In El Paso my allergies are better. In El Paso my skin and lips are dry and I need to use chap stick. ( had to use it a lot in the summer in San Diego as well). Wife is going through lotion. The desert landscape isn't that great to look at.

In Sarasota my allergies suck, but controlled with meds. Never need chap stick. The lush green landscape is better. I won't go into the beaches, because that isn't comparing apples to apples.

I have played pickleball in both place at about the same time in the morning. It is easier to breath in El Paso as it isn't too hot, where as the humidity in Sarasota is there in the mornings even though the temps are lower.

So those that say they couldn't put up with the weather in one place or the other, well to me it isn't much different. Now comparing either to San Diego is no comparison.

I will take 110 in Havasu over 100 in Texas with humidity. Last time we were in Texas in June I could not wait to leave. Can't do humidity.

In Texas there isn't much humidity. It is 16% now. I was talking about the humidity in Sarasota. In Sarasota now it is 58%. I like the Fort Worth area but not El Paso, except my son and grandkids are here.

Yeah I don't do Orlando, so cannot comment on the humidity there. Although when I return I have to go to Palm Coast where my mom lives. She isn't doing well, but that is for another thread. I will most likely drive through Orlando.

Way more humid in Ft Worth, greenery = humidity. It comes from the vegetation

Last time I was there (central Texas) it was 95-100 with 70% humidity. I was stationed there while in the Army as well.

Austin right now is showing 100 with 33% humidity at 5:23 central time,

Dew point 73, so basically a room temperature coke can will sweat if you out it outside

I lived on the east coast most of my life, DC to be specific. Everyday forecast, hazy, hot, humid! I moved to central AZ in the mountains. Awesome weather!

When I went to Miami in July a few years ago, we would go out at 7-8pm to walk over to a bar and I would start sweating instantly and my clothes were covered with sweat. It sucked. We all had to walk really really slow to avoid looking like we just walked out of a pool lol.

I can go out anytime here in LA at the hottest times of the year and I won’t sweat.

I could live in snow or humidity if I had to but I’m thankful I don’t have to right now lol.

I had to go to Fort Lauderdale for training one year. Landed an got to the hotel at night. Seemed nice!

In the morning...

I walked out of the hotel, and my glasses instantly fogged up!!!

I asked the instructor...

How the fuck do you even live here? It's so humid, you can hardly breathe!!!

He said, we just don't go outside during the day!

I think this was April or May. I can't even imagine what the summers must be like.

Worked in New Orleans for 12 months in a two year span six months at a time . 1st time from cold weather to hot and 2nd time from hot weather to cold . When the weather switched to humidity the locals called it the air you wear and they were spot on . 1st time it rained while humid I put a rain suit on and the locals said you can wear a rain suit and be soaked in sweat or don't wear a rain suit and be wet from rain , again they were right , I'd rather be wet from rain than sweat . The extended stay windows looked like it was raining outside for 3 or 4 months straight . No fucking way I could live in a place like that , give me the dry heat all day long .

Having lived in Houston pretty much my whole life and spent time in Vegas in July it's basically this

Houston in August: hit yourself in the face with a hot sponge

As we drove North up the Texas pan handle we saw more and more swamp coolers. Usually a sign of drier hot days area. The higher the elevation the drier the air.
