Not sure of any inner ear ones that are iPhone Interactive. Most of the over-the-ear type can interact with your phones and TVs for the higher end units. I have the completely in Canal version that go all the way into the ear canal and you do not see them. For me they are absolutely necessary and improve the quality of my life greatly. When I first got them there is no way I can wear them everything was so damn loud. So I wound up leaving them out because it drove me crazy. But after having them for almost a year I forced myself to wear them one time and my brain learned to adjust to them after about a week of constant headaches. Now I'm lost without them.

That was nearly 20 years ago

My dad got the in the ear hearing aids from Costco. It was easy for him and whenever he had an issue, he could get it resolved. I think it was $4200? They also offered a one time damage or lost replacement. The only issue with the phone feature with in the canal hearing aids is the battery list. My dad went through a lot of batteries as he was always using it with his phone.

He is now getting the over the ear type as he lost one in the river and he already used his one time replacement before.

My brother finally broke down and got some. A lifetime of motors and tools. Everybody told him they appreciated him getting it lol. Especially work. I told him he wasn’t getting them because he didn’t want to admit that he needed him. He agreed.

Apple and Samsung both make ear buds that can double as hearing aids...

When I'm out for a walk, I can be listening to my music, and STILL hear all the sounds going on around me. Pretty slick. 👍

I just picked up the AirPods 2 for my dad yesterday to test it out. Unfortunately, his testing showed severe hearing lost and wouldn’t let him turn the function on. I might do a little cheat test so he can at least use them while he uses the AirPods. I guess they only will turn on the feature for mild to moderate hearing lost. It seems like an awesome feature

I should have added…

All Bluetooth, lots of ways to program through app on my phone and connects to phone for calls.
Works for streaming music, sports and your favorite RDP videos.

You will thank yourself later and wish you hadn’t waited so long.

They do take time to get used to, if ever. I still face challenges in different environments.

I am only here to say that Fox News has been advertising a new company called Audien I believe? They are like 200 bucks and it looked like it had some pretty good reviews? for 200 bucks you can't go wrong to try them before spending thousands?

It looks pretty legit I'm going to get them for my mom

My current 'Hearing Aid' is my wife 🤣
I can rarely hear what most younger store employees are saying to me, because they either whisper or whisper and speed-talk, so I just turn to my wife and ask for an instant playback --- "What'd she say ?" Then she normally just takes over talking to them and that makes me happy.
No real problem on the phone, unless it's with some damned Pakistani or Indian.
Big problem with the TV, but years ago I switched on the closed captions, not so much that I couldn't hear the dialog, but the damned background music and overbearing sound effects were drowning them out.
I haven't a clue why the stations feel it's necessary to having a damned thumping bass backing up a weather report --- Boom-Diddy-Boom-Diddy-Boom, ironically low frequencies I hear amazingly well.
Anyway, I love closed caption, used to it so long I don't even notice it or that my mind is subconsciously reading it.

So here's my deal, the guy at Costco told me in order to become adjust to a hearing aid I need to wear it daily. My wife works, I spend my days primarily alone, I don't need no damned hearing aid when there's nobody talking to me. So I'll only end up wearing it when my wife gets home or we go out.
My neighbor got some at Costco and said that's BS, he's in the same boat as me and claimed he adjusted to them fine only wearing them part time. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, no requirements for Iphone or TV interface, if they work well enough to hear people I should hear the TV just fine.
So which type is best ??

I went the cheap route years ago. You can spend the money now, later or both.

Its not just the devices I am paying for, the thousands I spend are backed with my audiologist visits every few months, warranties and support that last for up to 3 years.

Some things are just worth paying for.

I just got back from the ENT this morning and again confirmed I need hearing aides which I already knew since I have a pair of Oticon custom fitted in the ear ones. They are old and cost me about 5K many years ago. Rarely wore them. Both the Dr. and Audiologist tell me that anything older than 5 years old is obsolete. So my next pair with be cheaper ones. Buying these things is as confusing as “which oil should I use” threads.

X2 on the Apple AirPods 2. We bought some on Black Friday for $150 and my technology challenged 87-year old MIL can hear again!

Granted, one fell into the toilet but the rice trick fixed it all up.

She had given up on finding a decent hearing aid, so she's stoked.

And she looks cool 😄

On the Airpod ones, do you set them up like a Bluetooth deal, and then let them do their thing? Or do they always have to be linked to the phone?

… After all of my health trials and tribulations over the last year and a half or so… While at my primary care, physicians office dealing with his …whatever Janis the woman sort of doctor is that helped bring me back… I said to her assistant Jocelyn ..,I can’t hear very well ..,and she said would you like us to clean your ears and I replied… I don’t know…🤷🏽‍♀️… but lets do it… So Jocelyn blasted the wax out of my ears…that I thought I had gotten out with Q-tips …but apparently I had not…
…My point here is get any residual wax blasted out it before you start spending gobs of money on hearing aids🤷🏽‍♀️

You got that right. Every time I leave my dad’s( who won’t wear his hearing aids) house my voice is blown out.

Technology is changing by the day.. I am actually shocked that someone hasn’t made an app that turns normal ear buds into hearing aids..

Scratch that they do..

I have a brand new as of 1/21/25 Starkey hearing aid for sale if anyone is interested. I lost most of my hearing in my right ear 40 + years ago. I went into SoundPoint/Audibel in Havasu because hearing in my left ear was getting bad from old age. They talked me into 2 hearing aids when I really needed a cross setup. The audiologist moved back east before she got the results I wanted. The new audiologist said I needed a cross since hearing in the right ear was too far gone. I bought the cross for the right ear. I sent the extra used right hearing aid back for warranty repair. They just sent it back to me, a brand new, latest and greatest Starkey. I have no use for it since I have the cross setup. I paid just shy of 6g for the set. I would sell it for $1,000 if anyone is interested. It has never been used or put in an ear. The audiologist said he would set it up for someone if they bought it from me.

No mater what hearing aids you buy the end result will mostly depend on the audiologist. If they get it right you will know. There is no getting used to it or headaches. Once they find the sweet spot they just plain work and you wont want to take them out. Benjamin at sound point is the only person I have found that has delivered results and not just made excuses. I wish I would have found him years ago.
