I can tell you that Stacy is swamped with RE sales in LHC right now, and the rest of the team is pretty busy as well.

I'm in this business, so it's kinda hard to say if we are up or down.. The marine advertising biz is kinda fucked though.. If they are busy "we don't need to advertise" (in the most cocky voice you can imagine)... If shit is dead "we can't afford to advertise" in the most begging please do this shit for free voice you can imagine..

Ironically enough, every single Mfg that advertised on here during the last recession survived.. Every single one that didn't, for the most part didn't.. Be interesting to see which way that goes this time. I'm not doing shit for free this time around though, and certainly not trading dollars like some of these guys want..

Instead I'll just diversify and go back to making money other ways, and start writing what I want on here.. I've always wanted to write a series of articles with interviews called "What happens in 5 years". Start inserting your favorite names in the boating industry behind that question and you will come up  . We are in the precipice of some major changes in this industry and virtually nobody is talking about it.. Recession, aging out, no new talent.. Shit is gonna get real interesting real fast..

Not to mention all these guys are out of their fucking minds with pricing anymore..

Nope, super busy. We can't make cranes fast enough. I have orders all the way to Q4 next year.
From my experience, when the dirt equipment slows down like Cat, cranes follow about 12-18 months after that

This summer has been crazy slow, but it's weird because we're about to get busy when it's really supposed to be slowing down. Usually after tax time we get busy and it's just been flat.

The one trend is the private work has dried up and the federal work is what's taking off.
Well, you'll have the Durango casino going up and the A's stadium if that ever starts. BTW, all the rendering of the stadium are BS per the guys at McCarthy. They are working on it

We are still pretty busy but the golf industry is usually last to get hit. We supply the course with all furnishings and equipment nothing to the player.
Golf courses have been busy this past year.

I actually need to get your email. Kie gave me a flash drive of those big picks from the cages. I can send you some of the photos.

The As stadium is going to happen, also this NBA deal will happen, and the the bullet train, but after that I don't know.

Durango is pretty much done from my understanding, but I know we're bidding a couple of towers, the big question is are they going to happen.

Look at Dream, it's parked and just another skeleton.

Durango looks to be a great spot, about 5 minutes from my house. One of my neighbors is an IT exc with stations. I like what they are doing, we are a supplier to the new Stoney bar and bbq up north.

Yep and all of our cm are busy as hell too

Electronics
Machine shops
Cots suppliers
PCB/PCBA suppliers are working 7 days a week to try to catch up to us
You have any extra work for a machine shop? We are a high volume machine shop and have machines available, multispindle cam machines and cnc lathes. Our long time aerospace/medical/automotive stuff is slow. Staying just busy enough

I personally knew 3 people who "aged out" this year. I agree, something is coming but honestly can't say if it's going to be really good for those of us still here or if the bottom is going to completely fall out. Whatever happens, I see it coming in the next two years.

I work mainly on NIssan GTRs and still pretty damn busy. Fabrication side still haven’t slowed down. Small ass shop though.

What shop? I used to work around the corner from SP Engineering in City of Industry and loved hearing them testing GTR's down the street....

Wisecraft Fabrication. SP is a big big gtr shop.
I am a huge GTR fan, probably will never afford one, but its a dream car for me since I was young...so when I worked around the corner from SP I used to drool at all the amazing machines they had coming in and out of that place...

Absolutely dead! I'm in the military relocation biz. Summer is when we are supposed to be slammed with moves and make our money to survive the slow winters. First summer in 29 years I've seen that I have had multiple weeks off with no work. Scary times for sure..

They’re getting affordable. But fixing them is expensive. I’m currently saving for my trans and it’s 35k. Annndddd probably gonna break. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I put a cage in this one. He drives it everywhere. Kid doesn’t give a fuck. 7.2 @ 190 street car.

Directly impacted by RE and rates is my guess. My buddy owns a moving company and is slammed but they also just became a Mayyflower Agent.

They are pretty bad ass and American Made. Santa likes to stuff em in stockings ;)

Time to start working on Pegged 3? 😎🚤
Haha...way over my head in this day and age. There's some talented folks out there with way more sophisticated equipment doing a great job shooting boats these days.

Commercial constrution is still busy, but everyone is working harder for the sales. Need to bid more to keep volume up.
Theres' still alot of money in healthcare and laboratory construction.

Im hearing Residential single-family is slowing rapidly due to interest rates, projects that were underway over the past few years are wrapping and new projects aren't coming fast enough. ADU construction is still strong.

Multi-family is still booming - apartments as far as the eye can see in major CA cities. Not sure how the outlook is on those, not my market but it seems this will continue due to CA's housing mandates forcing communities to provide more affordable housing.

On the Airbnb / VRBO front........I'm seeing a marked slowdown in "non prime" months. Usually its no problem to book 100% full anytime from March thru October. Now, March - May have slowed and Sept / Oct aren't nearly as busy - And that's comparing it to 2019 and previous years. I don't bother comparing it to 2020 / 2021......that was Covid insanity and everyone was on vacation with free money 24/7

Definitely a factor. Usually doesn't trickle down my way so much because majority of our customers are military members that just from one bases housing to another. Definitely a strange year .. what's your buddy's company name Joe?

I agree with the pricing. I talked to Nordic in 2018 about a new 29 deck with a 600 price loaded was 179k now that same boat easily 320

No we are iso9001. Our quality manager has been pushing us to go AS. Not sure how much more it would take for ITAR, but the cyber compliance sounds like I need a full time IT guy?
Being that we make weapons and where we need help. We need to be fully As9100 and ITAR. We can get around cyber compliant but it’s a hell of a lot easier without.

ITAR is one we cannot do without.

Yeah but they all have 2 year back logs!! LOL. Not anymore..

Now they all claim it, but if you drop a deposit you can skip the line.. Meaning those backlogs are gone.

That's interesting. I would think that would be a pretty steady field.

Moved back to AZ and Started a new job back in May (Pencomsf.com). We make specialty fasteners, do custom manufacturing and inventory management. A lot of it is OEM, aerospace, medical and contract manufacturing. We are ISO 9001 & ITAR Registered REACH RoHS Compliant.

It's been slow. Like others have said... Manufactures stocked up and have a surplus. I am hitting up everyone, anyone and grinding it out.

Golf courses seem to be pretty recession proof over the years. The courses that have closed needed to and the ones open are slammed! Country clubs will lose some members but still be fine. Daily fee courses will lose some rounds from casuals but gain rounds from the guys that left the country clubs but still want to play without the burden of a membership.

When I was a super at a city course during 06 to 09 we were slammed from all the golfers that joined the new country clubs built out in chino and corona that lost it all in the bubble and decided to play closer to home. All the clubs have since closed but the city courses stays slammed!

I wish I was tied in early to the investment opportunities from the “inflation reduction act” to pounce on those give away programs. Libs are handing out billions for green initiative. If not that the infrastructure act or the chips act….freaking Trillions handed out. It makes Obama’s Solydra debacle look like a child’s allowance.

My business is up and down day to day, week to week....I haven't been in it long enough to really establish trends.

I've had to fire a couple customers because they were being assholes and I ain't got the patience for that, but I just worked out a deal with a guy in New Zealand to be my NZ/AUS distributor ... so that's not bad.

Seems when retail is down, B2B is up, and vice versa. I just added another 100 eBay listings and at least that many to the website, got in some parts that I'm not sure anyone else has.

All the North American suppliers of what I need are slammed right now since the other major supplier to my industry just got bought out by a company everyone hates, so I'm going to that company's suppliers direct in China because its the only place to get the stuff. Minimum order quantity though is 500 pieces, instead of 25 pieces....so gonna need to figure out where to put it all. I figure if I need it and I can't get it even though I know where to get stuff like this, other folks who need it won't be able to find it either, until I have them. At least that's my justification for spending all this money on all that inventory. lol.

Still pretty steady, however not to the capacity I was before the pandemic. Went from having 9 service trucks down to barely keeping 2 guys busy. Finally back to having a full load with the two trucks we have with extra work if wanted. Adding a third truck in the next month or so. There's work out there, just depends how hard I want to work for it.

Peterbilt will still be on allocation for the first half of next year. Allocation will drop this month. Heavy duty trucks are available but almost all medium duty is spoken for already and is very hard to get.

Real estate has slowed a bit. I just closed out 4.5M in sales in August. Great month after 4 months in the making to pull that off. Looks like it’s going to be slow until rates drop.

Residential high end window coverings is DOA, has been for 6-9 months. Commercial side is holding up okay, they call, I answer. That’s all competitive bid so I’m seeing myself loose bids but then the winning bids decline jobs or shit the bed trying and they circle back months later and ask if that price is still valid, NOPE 😂

I’m starting a new business, so apparently I’m running into a burning building, whatever, if it fails I’ll go sell oranges on the freeway, it really doesn’t matter to me at this point, just gonna keep on keepin on and enjoy the ride.

I feel for the lifestyle crowd that needs to keep up the cash flow to support there lifestyle choices, gonna be ruff jerking off gay dudes in the safeway parking lot for money to keep the ship afloat this time around 😂😂😂

I’m the Director of Const for a good sized Development company. We build high end Country Club Communities all over the western U.S. Sales have definitely slowed, but are still doing ok. We’re fortunate to have an 18 month backlog of housing starts, so I’m still slammed. Trades are still buried and struggling to get enough help.

Supply chain issues have improved, but still causing havoc with my schedules.

We’ve been working for the last 4 months gathering bids for accelerating starts on another project and a lot of the pricing coming in is absurd. Many of the bigger companies are still feeling fat and aren’t budging on ridiculous numbers.

My guess is another 6 months and we might hear from some of them starting to feel hungry.

I'm seeing no slowdown in commercial construction on the GC side. Only a handful of subs are slowing down. And by slowing down meaning back to a manageable about of work.

I've have to decline several large projects just because I don't have the staff to bid and manage these. The past six weeks we had 13 projects bidding. Portion of these 300k to 800k range, and the others 5m - 15m range. Mostly big box stores and new shopping center developments.

No doubt. Nordic will make it through anything with their financial backing. I’ve seen a few 26s for inventory which shows they don’t have any on order. I’ll be curious to see what company’s slow I don’t wish it upon anyone though. There’s one builder in havasu I think is barely hanging on as is. We will see the outcome of them it’s unfortunate cause they have one nice 27 and 26 deck.
