This was a really nice boat / yacht? at one point in time. The asking price now seems really high to my ignorant self in the environment of things like this.. but got me wondering. At what price would you take consider a purchase offer and take on a project like his? What follow on questions would you have hypothetically before making an offer?

If you know how to do everything, and have the equipment, MAYBE I would take it on. No idea what I would pay. I think it would max one of my cards out just filling it.

At least it's not 80's cocaine and brass, so has that going for it. A lot, I would assume, would depend on the survey results. Are the motors serviceable, is the prop missing because the drive was damaged running aground, stuff like that. Pretty pimp cruiser, but I have no business with anything that big...or fuel tanks that big

I imagine it has surface drives?

My opinion,.. 100 plus thousand (likely 100s) to make it right. I went down this rabbit hole with a significantly smaller Fountain that surveyed well and am now into it with serious dollars after one season.,

Edit; Plus, it’s 25 years old.

Nice setup. Already in Seattle. Sure, it needs the mechanism looked over, and the navigation replaced (2000 vintage),

65’ yacht for under $200k. 😉

My wife wants this damn thing. We bought a house on Lake Washington and she thinks that thing would be great on our dock. I can’t imagine what it would cost to bring it back to its glory. Not to mention our dock couldn’t handle this pig. She sends me the ad for this thing every few months. 🤣

There is actually a couple of these for sale in Seattle. The one she was looking at is a year newer. Still an absolute money pit.

It's worth whatever those 3412's are worth. If they're still serviceable this is good $$$.
If they need a rebuild - they're still valuable and they'll always be a market for them.
That boat is going to have a big fuel burn. 5-10 gpm idling and depending on hp, at least 100 gpm at high cruise.

I’ve never thought of resale value on a toy. So I think you just have to ask how much you’re willing to spend for the experience and memories.

If it makes you happy and you have 2-400k to burn who cares. I see so many people justifying spending their money on fun by telling you what the resale could be.

Who cares! You can’t take it with you.

Wait...What about the Mini Sheyadda? Won't that fit the need?

That other one had a price drop to 210,00” doesn’t mention any missing props or needing anything I saw?

The OP’s posted boat isn’t as rough as I’d expect for the $$, looks fairly good. I was expecting half dismantled and trashed.

Offer em 20 Grand 😎 engines are probably worth that.
Worse case scenario? They take it😂😂😂😂

you never know unless you ask.

20 years ago, a good friend of mine moved back to the West Coast because the life she was hoping for on the East Coast turned to shit....she had a 7 year old Jeep financed, owed something like $10K on it, it had been flopped on it's side (no major damage...fixed it in a weekend) and the typical NE rust and she hadn't been able to make a payment on it in about 8 months, so the bank was looking for it. Also had a very bad u-joint, broken sway bar links, and a locked up fan clutch and the rear brakes didn't work.

She was freaking out about the repo process and what it would do to her credit (which was shit anyway)....I called the bank, explained that I understood the process, and explained what the vehicle had been through and what sort of rehab it needed to be able to get anything for it, then offered them $1000 to simply make it go away and record the loan as settled....otherwise they could come get the piece of shit.

They called me back 20 minutes later with wire instructions for the $1000. I spent a weekend cleaning it up and about $200 in parts and sold it for $7K the next week and bought her a nice $3000 car (which you could do in 2007) and pocketed the rest for my "efforts".

Banks don't want this shit....lowball the hell out of 'em.

I agree but would temper it with the thought that the more you get in resale, equals the more you’re going to have buying the next (bigger, better, faster, etc.) toy.

That's not possible, and even at GPH....those figures are a bit high

As mentioned, those Cat diesels are robust! 638-737 HP each at like 1800 RPM. Didn’t see a TQ number but would assume around 3k each? This isn’t something I would ever contemplate purchasing, just thought it was a cool oddity for sake that would generate conversation and or interest for someone other than me to make an offer.

Not each; both.
If they're fueled to run more than 1850 rpm which marine versions often are - they'll burn more.
100GPM is 6000GPH. It's not a container ship....

You know those tanker trucks you see that supply gas stations?....one of those, with a trailer, holds about 8000 gallons.

That boat ain't burning a tanker truck full of fuel every hour.

Consider also that the 65' fountain only has a 1000 gallon fuel capacity....what's that, a quick motor around the harbor?

My mistake ... per hr. 😆
