Curious how many online gamers are here. I play AOE on steam. Used to play it on the game zone back in 1999

I gamed a while back when I was in the military . resident evil, splinter cell and gran Turismo were my jam. I bought the resident evil remake this year.

I’ve played world of Warcraft for 20 years. 3000io 4/9 mythic 32000 achievement score multiple alts aotc’ed etc.

My rig is a 7950x3d with a 4090 video card. 47” asus rog oled 144hz monitor. Can’t really upgrade anything else. Razer chair keyboard mouse etc. I’m gonna add a second 27” monitor vertical and probably start streaming for funsies.

Hard core since HS till about 2010 then got out of the rat race.

Built all my own gaming rigs since high school from parts. Used to buy from Egghead and other computer shops until NewEgg, Mwave and a few other online/will call places popped up. Also TigerDirect and Fry’s for some things.

Ive gamed on the 286, 386, 486 (all OEM white boxes I’d spiff up), then the custom stuff was the 586/Pentium, Cyrus 686mx, AMD K-6, AND K-7, Pentium II, Pentium III, AMD Athlon/XP, Pentium 4, AMD Athlon X4, and finally Intel’s Core series. I painted cases, did custom wiring jobs, windowed cases, etc.

My jam early on was flight sims. I had F15 Strike Eagle Series, the F-16 Falcon series, and F-14 Fleet Defender. I should have joined the Air Force or Navy at that point. Then Star Wars X-wing and Tie Fighter.

Later I got into Myst, Wing Commander, the star wars Dark Forces series.

Finally a buddy got me into WoW which I did right up to Cataclysm and then bailed. Went to Star Wars The Old Republic from release through a few expansions then bailed on that.

I basically no longer had the disposable income to keep building $3-4,000 PCs every 3-4 years and then I didn’t want to try and play newer games with older systems where I have to turn the bells and whistles off. I always built systems that were able to run every graphics and sound option possible.

I figure I spent at least $20k on hardware, games and accessories. But I had the pleasure of owning the early generations of Creative Soundblasters, 3dfx’s Voodoo cards, and most of the stuff Thrustmaster made.

I’ve been partial to Nvidia for graphics cards ( they bought 3dfx) but on the CPU side I’m evenly split on Intel and AMD platforms.

I never got into water cooling but I did have case and fan lights a few times.

If I built today I’d skip all the bling and just build a solid rig.

And I refuse to game on my phone. And haven’t owned a console since the OG X Box.

I most recently got into in person D&D, did a few adventures with some friends. It was fun but that was another massive time sink. I didnt go as far as cosplay while gaming. That’s a bit too far for me. Haven’t done that for a couple years now but I liked it.

Said he'd have to quit his job and game full time & overtime to compete in the pro tournaments.

Stays out of trouble but has no life beyond it.

I have been hooked on destiny for years and now the Harry Potter game. I get a few hours a week combined. Just the family room with a PS5 and Xbox X. We do want to get the switch just to play Mario cart though.

I also miss the two player split screen games. Now most games you need another tv/console to have two players campaign together.

I play MechArena with my kids. It’s a fun little game on the phone where we can team up. Super quick matches and fun when I’m at work and they’re at home.

I have an Xbox, and will occasionally play some stuff. I enjoyed the Red Dead Redemption, and of course Grand Theft Auto. I'm sure I'll play the new GTA when it comes out.

I don't think I've played any Xbox in well over a year though.

I had a 7700 before and got an additional ~40 fps in game just by switching cpu. Now WoW isnt exactly the best benchmark for graphics but I usually average close to 300 fps at 4k max settings.

Nothing wrong with some gaming in my opinion.

I junk on call of duty and Halo and a few sports games with some buddies a couple time a month.

Honestly after a hard week or if I have a lot on my mind it one of the best ways to really wind down and switch gears.

Pinball is my 1st choice but not much time for that. I’ve got a couple friends I get together with once or twice a year to play pinball somewhere with and talk about family and old times. It isn’t so much the pinball as it is the memories. We also grew up playing street fighter together and a few racing and sports games. Now mostly play MadSkillsMX3 on my phone when I have a little down time.

Not sure if I’m a gamer. 56yrs old and i love some PS Madden. Been playing since the Sega days. (Bought the original Sega console on a circuit city credit card over 30 years ago. First big fight i had with my then fiancé). Played last night. Beat the shit out of some kid and then got humiliated. Funny every time.
