2nd gen. Grew up living on a lake back east. Had a dock, hoists for the boats, and in the winter the lake froze and we snowmobiled (kind of like sand season). I laugh at the hoops I jump through in Havasu during the summer. Fighting crazy crowds, pulling the boat on the trailer (only time we used the trailer was the begining of the season / end of season / or if we broke really bad), and all of the law enforcement / rules.

On the flip side - the weather is much better out here (way longer season and more perfect days), the boats are nicer on the lake, and everything stays a lot cleaner when it goes back in the garage.

My dad had a mahogany speed boat in the fifties. When money got tight and my dad had to find work in cali, my mom sold it. I got my first boat about fifteen years ago.

2nd gen. Dad was the first one. Back arround '72, Se4a Ray about 17', lotsa freeboard sh my sis & I wouldn't likely fall out. I was 5 then, sister 1. Dad bought the Taylor in '78, when I was 11. Never bought anything else, and gave her to me in '03.

1st generation. Was exposed to speedboating when I was about 5...one of my aunt's ex-boyfriends built a v-drive boat and I went out on it once. Of course speedboating never really interested me until I was about 16 when an old neighbor of mine got a Cheyenne-made Spectra 20 copy jet boat. From then on I always wanted one but couldn't afford one until Labor Day of 2006. Bought a pretty fucked up boat to say the least and rebuilt it.

Always loved the sound of a hot rodded V-8...and figured since there's no smog reg's on a boat anything goes. :D

3rd Gen. here. All my life has been on the water. With fairly famous uncle that manufactured a boat or two thrown in.

My parents took us camping at the lake almost every weekend. Back in the day, we'd take a mower to mow the grass around the campsite, set up our tent, and live on the water. My grandparents would come out sometime, although they didn't own boats. Those were awesome times. I started working at a boat business with my dad at the age of 13, working after school and during the summer, bought my own boat at the age of 16... and opened my own business in 89.

Uncle had a trailer and a boat at Havasu. Used to be a bar and restaurant where the casino is today. Havasu Landing was the name. Spent many summers, and most Thanksgiving's out there. Waaaaaay before the London Bridge. Bro-in-law had a place and boat in Bullhead, right on the water for over 20 years. So, what does that make me??????

Both of our parents have always had boats. Her dad still has a Sea Ray and my dad has a Tracker. Not the same type of boating that we're into but they still have the love of being on the water.;)

First Gen here. Used to go to the river run with mini trucks years back to Parker and never thought about it.
My parents actually got me to go to Laughlin with them way back and we got hooked.

2nd gen East Coast. Dad raced an E-runabout w/ a Merc KG9 in the 50's down on the Miss while stationed in Biloxi in the USAF. Did other crazy stuff like waterskiing behind the Piper J3 Cub floatplane he and his buddies owned (don't worry- it couldn't get airborne with a skier behind it. Just used a long towrope to keep from getting windburn from the propblast!)

I grew up with a Grady White mahogany 18' w/Johnson 50. Dad thought it was too slow and ordered the first Johnson 100 the dealer got in. Took a while to get the x-dimension sorted out- until then it cavitated like crazy in hard turns.

Boated at Lake Lure, High Rock, Buggs Island, Philpott in VA, and of course Lake Norman where I've ended up.

Second generation. My dad started going in the mohavi i the mid 50's then parker after that. Like everyone else at the time, started with 15-16'
outboards where you had to shore start to get up on a water ski. When I was a toddler we camped out of a 65 dodge van at foxes and red rock, family of five. Having kids of my own now, it really makes me appreciate what they went through to make sure we enjoyed ourselves.

My parents have been going to the river since the late 60's partying on the Parker strip at fox's coming home with crazy storys dents in the family car recked boat ect. Myself since the the mid 70's camping in Steamboat on Havasu for a week at a time with the family way before the the no wake zone and maybe seeing only two boats all week shooting guns ect. My dad even use to know the skier Jeep that hit the rock in Steamboat and died.

One of these day I'm going to get their photo abum out and scan some pictures they have of all the flattys under water in front of Fox's and all the party mayhem back then.

Third generation... Kinda. Grandparents had a lake house complete with a boat when I was growing up, so summers were always spent there. Grandpa died, so Grandma sold the boat and the house. Dad had a crappy aluminum fishing boat with a 25HP motor on it when I was growing up, but it never ran. He sold it when I was about 8. I bought my Tahiti shortly after my 18th birthday. :hotdevil
