I’ve got a fire hose we use for filling the water truck that has a hole in it. Are these hoses patchable?

Before I got in the fire sprinkler trade I used to refill fire extinguishers and replace / fix fire hoses back in the late 70’s.There used to be a brass expansion ring that I had a expansion type tool that I used for the male and female ends. Not sure if they still use them or not. Since fire hoses aren’t required in most places anymore I would check with your fire sprinkler company. We used to have a pile of them that we demoed out of existing buildings.

Edit: Just noticed its 2.5”. Not a 1.5” fire hose.

As close as that is to the coupler fitting why not just remove couple, cut hose back behind leak and reinstall coupler? Seems easy enough? Or is the coupler some kind of crimp style deal?

Berg Nelson our King Bearing can put a new coupler on that , assuming that the hose liner is in decent shape.

If the hole was in the middle of the hose this coupler would work, but since it’s so close to the connector I don’t think that this would work for this condition.

If you dry it out and wrap some good duct tape around it (good for fixing leaky shit, not good for ducts) like Gorilla Tape, it'll probably last for a good long while....it's not like you've got a nozzle on the other end so it's not carrying much pressure.

Dry it out. Rubber plug with silicone, let dry. More silicone over the top, and flexible tape ?

My sons are firemen and I asked them how they repair their hoses - they just replace the leakers.

It’s a 100 hose throw it in the gutter and buy another
That’s my plan, but this new outfit I’m working for is pretty damn cheap. They made a big stink about me asking to get another porta-potty for next to my trailer - why can’t you walk down to the other end of the job site and use those down there?
Really?

Like said above they have a brass expansion ring on the inside that takes a special tool, we will usually cut them and re-couple when that close to the coupling. For FD use you can't patch.
