Both my parents have voted conservative since their first vote. Provincially though, the conservatives only ran 3 candidates in the last two elections. The Liberal Party here cut ties with the federal Liberal Party and ran on a fiscally conservative platform. When in power, they even cut welfare to bare bones barely enough to survive on. The other two parties are the NDP (socialist and responsible for getting Canada's healthcare) and the Green Party. Obviously environmental socialists. It took a lot of convincing my parents to vote liberal provincially to try and keep the communists out of power.
Here we don't vote for prime minister. The party that wins enough seat in the legislature to form a government first wins the election. The leader of that party is appointed prime minister. Ontario has 121 seats and 77 went to liberals. BC my province has 42 and Alberta has 32. We both voted a majority conservative. Its why Trudeau won a minority government. If Toronto wasn't a liberal city, the conservatives would have won a majority government. Its the only reason my family stays here, cause one day, hopefully soon Toronto will swing back conservative.
