I have a 09' and love it. Zero problems, but i do have the edge tuner with regen delete with race pipe. I also did the EGR full delete. Truck has 106,000 miles. Only bummer is the turbo lag off the line, but that is from the 2 seperate turbos. I wish it only had 1 turbo.

I have read that they are really fun once you tune them.

Ironically......the purpose of having the compound boosted twin turbos (one small, one large) is to minimise lag

How good isnyour AAA towing membership?

If you ever meet me and see the shit I build/do you would know why I'm on a first name basis with every tow truck/landall around. I do some different shit and this would be no exception!!!

I have a friend who has an F450 with the 6.4 and he said it to 50,000 miles for it to break in and then the milage improved considerably. He likes the truck.

Sooooo was I, but gave up after weeks (literally flying to Co, Driving to PHX, LV, So. Cal, Utah) of shopping for a 16' or even 15' LTZ, under 69K OTD. Might give this one a try since it's a bargain with 2,300 miles!!!!

I have been looking for one with a combo body for work. NOTHING. Plenty of Fords but I went the F450 route and biggest mistake I made business wise. I can not find even a gas Chevy work truck for a decent price.

Burnt a hole through one valve, one piston and that took out the block.

I wish. My 05 that I had everything done to was a rocket. Loved that truck. Sold it last year with 169,000 miles for 20k cash. I regret that sale. If I give the new truck some gas prior to take off it does okay, but not like my old truck. It does tow the boat no problem. I actually forget its back there which is scary:eek Gas mileage with no load I get around 17mpg highway.

6.4's are rockets. especially when built/tuned right. They will smoke a tuned/ lightly modded 6.0 in bone stock form. They sound great too. I still think 6.0's sound better, but 6.4's sound aggressive as hell. They are good for 100-150k miles is what I have heard. They actually are worse than a 6.0 as far as major problems go. By that I mean, when they have them, they are major, like need a new motor major. They have some radiator issues. Deleted they are pretty reliable. Mileage will suck no matter what. I know guys with DD tuning were getting 14-16 unloaded in a F250 platform stock height. It only gets worse from there towing, lifting, more power, etc. Also, they are available single or compound turbo. Depending on year

I have a 15 , they dropped the bi-turbo and put on a bigger one in 15. I pull my 26 Daytona from San berdo to havasu up 15 across 40. I set the Cruze control at 70-75 and it never down shifts, running right at 1700 rpm. My 05 duramax down shifted every hill. ( I know, the new motors are crazy torquey) I'm getting about 14 mpg.Empty running out to phx to see daughter , I get 14.5 mpg running 85-90. If I drop down to 65 mph, it will get about 22 mpg. But who can hold that crossing the desert.
I really am liking this truck(I was a true chebby guy). It's so damn quite, no exhaust smell, or for that fact, seems like no exhaust, I hate that nuclear power plant exhaust system under there, and if it were not for warrantee, it would already be yanked off.
Another little bitch is , it pulls like a moose up to 93 mph, then she is done, damn computer won't let it go. I know a tune can fix that, but not taking any chances with the warrantee. Since the cab has to come off to work on it, you'll get 24 service hours before they even touch the engine.

I always wanted to build a lowered Ford extra cab dually with a short bed...all yipped up. Don't ask me why, but I think it would be pretty cool.

Good luck on your build.

@79 Hustler - I was out in the middle of farm country somewhere and saw a build going on where they were converting a newer ford F-650 (like the one in your avatar) with a mid 80's cab and dually pickup bed. It looked like it had some potential to be pretty bad ass when completed.

Friend just picked up a 15 1/2 Dually Denali for $62K OTD everything except rear entertainment package. I sat in it earlier today and it sure is nice, drove my d-max tonight been sitting since T-day and just hit 80K miles and realized I do not need another payment my truck works fine. I need another work truck if anything.

I think Cerritos GMC. Said it sat there for 3 months before he saw it. Salese man said duallys do not sell well in this area and manager wanted it gone. No one even looked at it before him. He just text me I can ask.

Edit just checked there web site and no duallys. They are offering good rebates on the Diesels but only 1 black 3500 non dually.

I will get a new thread going but got the truck home stripping everything down today. Chunks of billet will be here this week for the wheels and i will get them thrown in the Cnc after that. New rubber ordered, heims ordered, and 4 link material ordered. 5 inch stainless sticks should be here Wednesday and I will throw it in the mandrel bender and start a new turbo back exhaust. New turbo ordered and should make some boost (haha). Working on a custom tune when all is done. I will start a new build thread this week.
