…Had a beater ‘80 Mercedes 300SD… suspension parts hanging close to the ground… Paid 500 bucks for it… Went out, cruising Hollywood one night with a friend of mine’s wife….He had to get up at 4 AM for studio work… And she was bored….
… We were on Rodeo Drive… Where she was looking at the very expensive clothing, stores… A black Rolls SUV or station wagon whatever you call it pulled up next to us at a traffic light… Warm summer night… I said to the passenger in the car I bet you guys have more money than we do…. The passenger said I wouldn’t bet on it… In truth, my friends wife was worth right at $100 million at that time… She is probably worth three or 400 million now…
… I had never seen a Rolls SUV before…
Funny you mention that....Grandpa rocked a 1980 diesel jetta.....we were driving around one day when I was 7 or 8 (so it was still fairly new, but of course he bought it used) and pulled up next to a Bentley at a light. Grandpa looked over at the driver and the driver waved. I commented "wow, I bet he has a lot of money"....Grandpa said that if he does, he hides it well, takes him 2 or 3 credit cards to find one with enough money on it to pay his bill when he brings the car into get serviced at my Grandpa's shop lol....and it's always outta gas.

Grandpa drove that pile till the ring gear rivets came out and cut a whole in the transaxle case in 2010....coasted to the offramp and walked to a honda dealer that was right there and bought the cheapest thing they had on the lot....a honda fit. Never owed a dime to anyone in his entire life

There are people out money for numerous sets.
I don't know what this is all about but it sounds like someone is out A LOT of money. Where ever these "cheap" tires came from... stolen? embezzled? Someone is out some money somewhere in the line.

Yes that’s it.

Funny how no one names names, but any other situation with a non member the pitchforks and death threats would be flying.
Erik Anderson aka Duramax

I don’t give a shit.

I did got somewhat made even over a 2 year time period. That was only because I took the gloves off and dug deep and didn’t give a fuck.

Well I personally believe my money was snorted away. So I sure as hell wasn’t getting that back. I did get a good amount of tires but I’d say it came out to about 800-1000 a set. I was just happy to at least get my moneys worth back. Then had to eat crow with my wife saying I told you so 🤣🤦‍♂️

They should start opening up walls and look in the attic for hidden cash.

In the mid 90s, one of my clients owned a 240D. I think they were only made in '73 and '74, so this tub of shit was at death's door. The guy was oblivious to his surroundings at an 8.75 on the Biden Scale. While entering freeways, he would just keep chattering as eighteen wheelers roared by inches away.

As the tired engine blew out a black smokescreen wall like a WWII destroyer attempting to escape the Japanese Navy, I was trying to punch a hole in the floorboard pushing on my imaginary accelerator pedal and praying God would take care of my family after the funeral was over.

My grandma always warned me about “Nouveau riche” people.

This thread reads like a soap opera. I hope you guys get your money back.

Pretty sure they were backdoored out of a border patrol fleet shop down near Yuma, IIRC....it's been a while. I didn't know at the time I sent the money, if I had known I wouldn't have participated.

Guy claimed to be the Ops manager for big network of car dealers in Phoenix or Tuscon or somewhere in AZ....That's about all I remember from the deal.

The whole border patrol bullshit was all part of the lies

Well I guess I have not been in town enough. Never heard of the clowns that got the MTI repoed and have not driven my trucks enough to need new Toyos. Did catch this bobcat on my cam last weekend though. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Hope to see you over Christmas.

Feel for you guys that got taken by the tire guy but honestly thought it would be a bigger player from the little hints put out there in the last week or so . Maybe I’m just not understanding the magnitude of how many members were duped by this guy and it’s bigger than I’m thinking. Don’t get me wrong losing that money would piss me off to.

Hopefully you guys are made whole.

Forgive my ignorance, but is cocaine really a thing again? I would be scared shitless that crap would be cut with china death. Seems like you would be better off with some 80's crack then gambling with today's drugs.

I don’t think the tire guy is the same guy RD has been hinting to. He would have had to been slinging tons of tires to think he could go rack up $30k bills around town.

Plus RD mentioned the person he was talking about had a sister event to SCFW.

Different guy.
Tire guy @Duramax lives in Tucson. His dad was CFO of Jim Click or another large dealership network in Tucson. The tire thing IMO went sideways. He did not have position of the tires, was getting them from a buddy he knew and he paid buddy and got no tires. Still BS. You take RDP member money, make it right. He needs to go out of his own pocket and pay back everyone IMO. A few very well know Havasu boaters know Eric, so I am shocked he has not made it right. He used to help @skater40 when he was testing Predator.

Then you have auto guy that got his house raided

Then you have the other guy RDP mentioned and will be outed on day.

Guess, winter boating, RDP drama started early this year.

I clearly remember the guy with the border patrol fleet tire deals. Text him for sizes and availability etc. y’all got burned? Shiiiit
Not everyone. He started out with people getting there tires pretty quick. Whole thread of thanks etc. then it slowed with excuse after excuse. Then I guess it stopped. Really surprised it took this long to surface. I think he shipped enough sets to make everything seem legit. Idk. Like I said it took a full year to get mine. You could tell towards the end the jig was up and he was in trouble. Shipping on the company dime can’t last long with tires. Several members even offered to pick up multiple sets and it didn’t happen. He sent me a fake shipping label the first time and then finally got legit tracking. Total amount is unknown as he would pull the threads down if I remember right.

Shit my old set almost looked like they had braces with all that steel showing 🤣

This has to be close to 3 years ago by now.

Personally I have bought, sold, loaned and borrowed with other members on this site and have had nothing but good experiences. I have yet to meet anyone in person from RDP that I didn't like. RDP members have always gone out of their way to help other's including myself.

Carry on!
