Not to far from H Roe Bartle Scout Reservation (opposite side of bloody 13). Scott's Famous Iconic Store (peach nehi floats), and some damn good stump bass fishing. Beautiful area up there.

Oddly enough I can still remember at least the start of the song for the camp lol.
The hills of Osceola are calling me today, Come back along the Scouting Trail, their voices seem to say. I dream of woodland valleys, and pathways that I know....

I built that house myself.
Only exception was the foundation.

That house has 10 inch walls with R24 rated insulation, No holes through the middle of the studs for electrical, it all runs at the top or bottom.
Walls 2x6 are sheeted with 3/4 plywood then 16 inch centers 2x4’s in a tic tack toe pattern between the siding and plywood with hurricane tabs on the top plates.
The roof has an R60 rated insulation.
The foundation is all 10 inch and the garage has a 11 inch suspended floor.
There is no wiring less than 12 gauge in the entire house and no more than 6 receptacles on any circuit.
You can be at any point in the house and touch one receptacle with one hand and another receptacle with the other.
All home run plumbing with two hot water tanks and a 144 gallon pressure tank. With the valves you can route the hot water tanks anyway you like.
The water well is of the charts. It has the best water I have ever tasted. Water was located at 70 feet but we drilled to 250.
Five horse water pump.
Two outside all weather sinks (p-traps are inside in the conditioned space.
Two utility sinks located in the garage.
Three electrical panels for easier wIrving.
The foundation was dug to solid rock.
42 inch entry doors. I’ll never have any less after having these.
Heated floors.
The wood stove in the living room will heat the entire house with the HVAC fan set to cycle occasionally.
I have never ran the heated floors, never had the need.
We love the wood stove heat in the winter.

1:40 to the training center in Kansas wouldn’t be that bad 😂😂 there’s a ton of career connection opportunities in the highschools out there. If I was closer to retirement age it would be perfect. My coordinator is getting ready to retire and head out there. He’s going to to career connections and be SET

I do not know where he got that number. It is 1 hour and 15 minutes to Kansas City proper.
It is exactly 100 miles from my house to the Training Center you speak of I think.
All of my friends are in the trades.
My son is a Lineman
Best friend is a Pipe Fitter (HVAC)
Sheet Metal Workers
Iron Workers
Boilermakers
Operating engineers.

I looked at all of the trade and the pay scales in Kansas City compared to Los Angeles a few years back and was shocked to see there was hardly any difference in scale and benefits.

There are many people that live around me and work in KC

It’s 1 hour from my house to Springfield. Pay is catching up in Springfield but still a little behind KC.

There is no traffic for me.
I work all around Central Missouri.
If I was to work for a contractor I would make 150-170K per year plus benefits.
I am self employed and do much better than that…
Money is not the reason to stay on the left coast in my humble opinion. Your opinion will probably differ….

Honestly the union is really strong in Kansas I could probably kill it. Could also probably do my own thing and kill it. On your link it says 1:40 to Kansas but I’m sure they are being very conservative. Hour and 15 was my normal commute up until 2 years ago. Honestly what keeps us here is my wife wants the kids raised here. I think my wife need to talk somethings over again. Especially if we can improve our way of living. I’m not afraid to admit it. I’m a creature of habit. What keeps us here is I’m just scared. I’m scared to take that chance

I just looked up the wages for the elevator union for Kansas City, Missouri and Los Angeles and it’s only a $7 an hour difference!!

Your realtor has a unique name………. Beau Mantle.

Nice home. It’s really well done. I like the western theme. It truly looks like a lot of thought went into it. Great job!

You could also look on the Kansas side. I was about 30 minutes from KCMO on the Kansas side. Some decent prices there also.

How do you like Truman Lake, as opposed to, say, LOTO? Looks much quieter when I checked it out? But i only saw it from shore. How is the general boating, I just saw fishing boats when I was there. Nice looking lake, though!!

We are 1 hour from LOTO, our new house will be 40 minutes from LOTO.

Truman is a flood control body of water. Great sportsmans lake. There are a few places on it to boat but most people go on to LOTO. There are several lakes close, Stockton, Pomme de Terre, and LOTO. Table Rock is 1:45 as well as Taney Como, and Beaver (my favorite) is about 2:45.

My house is hunting and fishing haven. So much wildlife. New place is exactly the same.
