Weren't the early turbo Porsche cars notorious for non linear power delivery?

Porsches are sweet handling cars until you push them to their limit. Being a rear engine gives them a a low moment of polar inertia and when you hit the limit then the rear end wants to become the front end. They are a handful at that point but a skilled driver that understands what’s going on can wheel his way through it. Adding significant power spikes makes it more challenging.

Interesting that you should use that analogy.
When GM released the Corvair, Ford did a clip explaining the benefits of a front engine car. They had an archer place a small weight on the front of an arrow and take the shot, “bullseye “. Then they moved the weight to the tail end of the arrow and when the archer took the shot the arrow just tumbled through the air and hit the target sideways.

Love those GT40s!

They are having a moment right now - one of the street versions just sold for $6.2m @ Kissimmee this past week and another in coming to market on March1/2 at auction.

The turbo cars were called "widow makers". They had no boost control. You have to drive them like a inertia car. Still love them tho.

Having driven several of the gt40 clones from south africa, they are fun for sure. Very predictable.
