guess they want to make a pumping station about 20
Miles
Downstream and pump water back up to the dam to generate electricity
I’m guessing what they do with pyramid / castaic now
Garcetri. Is pushing this. Sounds like a good idea. But I don’t know. What do you guys think?

If they have excess generating capacity that will power the pumps for basically free and can sell the kWH created by the scheme, I suppose it's not a bad idea.

There's also the small matter of the +- $300 million capital expenditure (just my guess) to finance.

County officials recently sent a request to the Senate/BLM to vote and release 44000 acres south of Vegas along the 15 Freeway to build more Houses. And BTW there is little water in Lake Mead.o_O

Sounds similar to Big Creek up north. Pump water when energy is cheap. Turn turbines when it isn't.

This is, as of currently, the best way to store daytime solar energy for use at night. Excess power that isn't used pumps the water up, and then at night the water flows back down through the turbines sending power back onto the grid

as a total, Vegas uses 1% or less on net of the water that flows through Mead.

Pumped storage generation. Works well if you have a cheap source if electric energy for part of the day.

VA power has a pump storage. I was in there control center one morning and a coal plant tripped offline. Within 3 minutes pump storage covered half the loss.
