Heard the warning over a bullhorn/loud speaker in the late 70's.

Kayakers purchase a permit to launch & are a limited amount each day.

Commercial raft operators are NPS concessioners.
Lol, nails it.

Mystery solved.

I like to look at the dam as much as anybody. But in todays world when every carpet flying asshole has crossed our border. I want that fucking dam protected. It’s unimaginable the economic and physical damage that an event at the dam can cause. I would rather see it lined by America’s finest, and g to a rockets on the stand by.
Well so far I have NEVER seen anyone with a Turban boating on the river or the lakes. But if one shows up at the dam they are welcome to blow him away.

I would assume they would leave their turban and beard at home.

FWIW - The run to the dam is still a great trip . . . Without even seeing the Damn Dam. Now that the bridge is there, at least you know you're right next to it. Lol

I’ve always wondered what would happen if you broke the barrier. Has to be something bigger than a sharp shooter with a 50 cal.

This right here.

They put up a sign. You didn't want to follow it. You own the consequences.
Theres a sign at the Southern Border--hell theres a wall too.
Cross that you get free money, phone, housing, food, travel and on and on

We should at least get a free fill up at Willow for crossing this sign??

Shit, lets be real. All this security for what?

1. I don't think there is an explosive that would compromise the dam that could be "carried" in. But let's say there is.

2. I don't think anyone on site could do anything about it. Yeah, I know, someone there has a gun.

3. With the lack of enforcement to the recreational boats they have become complacent. It would only take a terrorist another 10 seconds in a boat to be at the dam if they wanted to. That would all happen way before Bullhorn Karen could stop playing solitaire and run out to yell at them.

Either way the terrorists always find the simple way around the hurdles and use our complacency to their advantage.

The signs do the same thing as locks...keep the honest folks from doing something they shouldn't.

Have you noticed the hung suspended netting on the Havasu side of Parker Dam? That went up after 9/11. We were told it was intended to prevent terrorists from poisoning Lake Havasu. So, how much poison would that take? And how would a terrorist get that amount on to Parker Dam? Hope we never find out.

Wife and I were camped on the water, at Black Meadow Landing, in our first little 18’ travel trailer, a weekday not many others there on 9/11. We had a tiny 10” B&W tv on rabbit ears to try to watch what was happening. It was a bit surreal. No one knew what might follow the tragedy of the World Trade Towers in NYC.

I wonder if their poison would kill off the quagga muscles ? Anybody have their contact info ?

So speaking of being touchy about proximity to a dam, at Havasu Springs you can walk a local trail over to the Parker dam and get right up next to it on a hill overlooking it. Cameras everywhere. If you linger an armed guard comes out and shoos you away.

To put that number into perspective, one gram of this substance, equivalent to the mass of one raison, would be enough to kill over 5.5 million men (averaging weight 70 kg).

If diluted in a large lake/reservoir full of water ? ? ? That would obviously make a difference. But to what extent?

Read the article and do some homework. It's the most deadly substance known to man.

It's also the most protected. It's crazy when you dig into it.

I know one of the homeland security guys that works at the dam. He said they are most concerned about the area around the gates.

Hahahaha.... Last time I did the damn run with the group, The little short green guy and I were the last two to cross that barrier. There was a Fish and Game or someone sitting there with their lights on just watching people go by. They were making any announcements and had already been passed by the entire pack except us. We just rolled through.

Funniest part was the charter Raft guys were all really fucking pissed. One of them was taking pictures of all our reg numbers. We stopped at Willow on the way back and there was another set of those Fish and Game guys talking about it. I didn't say a word, but they knew it was an annual gathering from this website.

I was waiting for the citation in the mail but it never came. 🤷‍♂️
