From my friend Anthony Mainella at Hoopers

Hoopers Rear Ends started in 1976 when Sun Valley and Branford Street in particular, were the up and coming mecca of the automotive industry. Over time, the area has been in a steady decline. We have tried tirelessly to get city officials to do their jobs and clean up the area. All of our efforts have fallen on deaf ears. It has gotten to the point where we no longer feel this is the best place to conduct our business. We have a long standing reputation of being one of the best in our industry, which is something we work very hard to uphold. We want our employees and our customers to feel safe, which is why we have made the decision to move. We were lucky enough to find an amazing property in Leona Valley. We have spent the last 6 months turning it into a shop that we believe will take Hoopers to the next level. We are excited about the many opportunities this move will open for us. We hope our valued customers will make the journey north with us. Thank you for nearly 50 years of loyalty and cheers to our next chapter! Beginning Tuesday March 18th, you can find us at...

I get wanting to move the business out of its current location, but leona valley? Is there enough business in the area, or is existing clientele willing to travel north to the new spot?

Lots of open buildings here in Simi and since it's still in the area business would remain the same or increase.

That would be quite the towing bill to take a car to Hooper's. I have done that on two occasions.

So now you pull the rear end out and spend half a day transporting it?

But yeah, Sun valley / Pacoima definitely a third world country over there.

My friend/neighbor John has been helping with getting the electrical all sorted for the new building in Leona.

I was thinking the same thing. Only time will tell if it was a good move.

I imagine they do a ton of work for racers up in Central/NorCal so it’s probably easier for those guys.

Sorry Ritchie. Fuck Hoopers
Totally agree but who’s out there now doing that kinda stuff? My Pops was good friends with Ronnie (Ron’s Rear Ends) so he always did my stuff. Once he passed away not sure anybody took over his business to be honest. Hoopers was one of the only local driveline shops that I was aware of after that.

I was friends with Ron too. Great guy. Don’t know who else to go to either. Currie?
Last rear end I needed me and my brother did it.

Any good repair shop that's been around a while should be able to properly build a 3rd. I've done a bunch .... made a few mistakes and learned from them, but it's not that hard to do with a small investment in measuring tools. Biggest issue is finding the parts, mostly shims. I make the tools for the most part

… I have used Hoopers several times in the past few decades always always top quality work… It looks like where they are moving to, and Leona Valley could possibly be only about 30 miles from where they were… I don’t know that for sure as I didn’t compare the two addresses🤷🏽‍♀️

It might be, but with LA traffic it's like them moving to the other side of the earth 🌎

When I started at Singer in 2013, the original shop was in Sun Valley. Indeed like downtown Beirut. A hot and dirty Beirut. Daily crime in broad daylight.

It hasn't gotten better.... well🤔...... nope, it hasn't 🤣
… I remember when it was maybe four pretty decent wrecking yards… Which I would frequent … Then a couple of scrap metal businesses moved in… And it was all downhill from there🤷🏽‍♀️… I don’t blame Hoopers in the least for bailing😳

… The one that is now Copart… used to be U Pick Part… not to be confused with Pick Your Part…It was domestic only…Around the corner at Telfair and Roscoe/Tuxford…was foreign only… I over the years…snagged…for pennies on the dollar…tons of old Mercedes and Jaguar parts…May still have a bunch of Mercedes Bosch fuel injectors🤷🏽‍♀️… I think I sold all the Becker Mexico and Blaupunk…radio stuff🤷🏽‍♀️…The now Copart…Is about a mile and a half from where I live…

Used to go to Bank Auto Wrecking, a family friend was the manager there. Been trying to find him for years.
