A buddy is putting his place up for sale this month. Before he’s gone he has a few items to get rid of, and I’m going to pick up his 90:cool:
It’s been parked for years, a decade or more I believe.
Low miles, less than 1200 I believe. Red/Black
The ignition switch is gone, someone lost the keys long ago.
I believe it was Cali plated in the early 80s?
No paperwork.

So, given there’s no paper, will need a carb rebuild minimum, along with a key and switch (about 45 bucks in EBay) what would something like this be worth?
The price he gave me seems very reasonable.

Sold one for my daughter about 3 yrs ago approx the same mileage ran good but did smoke and leak a little oil. Guy drove 2 1/2 hours in the rain to come get it. Didnt even start it,just handed over the $800 she was asking and loaded it up

I look at a few old Hondas from 50cc-125cc, they all seem to hold a decent value. Depending on condition, running not running and paint and general condition. I would say $1500.-$3000. In running shape, good cosmetics would fetch top dollar.

I sold one for my Godfather about 8 years ago that he had returned as close to new as he could, he was a mechanic, in Oregon for $1200.00. It ran perfect but dripped just a little gas every now and then.

The value of these is all related to the condition they are in, and how complete they are.
Around here, a beat up running one will cost $500 to $1000. A nice one with everything on it (signals, side tank etc) sells for $2k. An original unrestored pristine one (with original paint and seat cover etc) will cost $3k+.

I'm always watching for an ST90.

If you want to sell it let me know
I haven’t told the wife I’m buying it yet:rolleyes:
I’m taking the it’s easier to ask for forgiveness” route on this deal, lol.
So that’s not entirely out of the question. But you should know it’s not my intent to flip it immediately if at all?

CT90 values aren't even close to the CT70 or Mini Trails so "bid accordingly"

What he said,
I practically gave away a pallet of parts for the Trail 90 but the same pallet of parts for the ct70 would be off the hook. The Trail 90 is a cool bike and maybe in the 500-1000 range depending on condition??
Still have this one to finish someday!!!!!

Hah! That is some funny shit, my Dad had a Rokon Trail Breaker! Big yellow beast like this one :

That fucking thing would scale a vertical wall if it had traction! It was crazy riding it, both wheels going made for some interesting handling!

I’ve never seen one before, had to look it up.
Crazy! They still make them!
Notice what it says about their wheels.

How do you think most of us got our boats?! The Honda's worth about 650.00 It's going to need new tires and probably seat recovered. Worth a lil more if it has the optional gas can. They go for $800.00 all day long in running, complete condition. They all have 1200-1500 miles on 'em.

1984 ct110. You will love that CT90. Punch it out .30 over for a little more pep. That job can be done very cheap and easy. Mine travels all around the Owens river to find awesome fishing spots. Without pictures of your CT90, its hard to value it. These bikes really hold there value in the So Cal market.

Took a little longer than expected to retrieve than I expected, but after suffering through a day of 91 fwy traffic, heat, and helping my buddy load some garage items on the trailer the lil critter is home at the Gelcoater compound, parked in front of the banshee.

Have a buddy said just about everything shy of just flat demanding I turn in my man card:D

Considering I got a Budweiser neon sign thrown in on top and I’m less than $200 deep.
I’m getting that feeling this deal didn’t suck.

It needs a few things.
Gas tank needs a douche
Carb rebuild
Fuel lines
Maybe a new petcock
The tires are the original 1971 variant, very age cracked.
And it needs an ignition switch/Keys
The switch/key combo was about $40 on eBay last month when I looked.
Has drum brakes that seem to function properly at push speed:D
I’ll probably have to take a look inside just to easy my curiosity, lol

Lol.
@DWC liked my last post:cool:

Is it ok to crap my own thread? :D

I’m sure you’re wondering, “What about the car?!!!”

Currently the car is a sort of garage art/temporary storage vessel:oops:

My problem it seems is I don’t have nearly enough 2Forcefull gene.
I’m not a seller, lol.

I have currently in the garage (2) adult size quads, the car, a tanning bed (don’t ask:rolleyes:) and now the 90.
This is not an RD style or Headless Hula type deal, a std 20x20, and I’ve managed to make a walking perimeter and center path...with work benches, storage racks, drill press, table saw, etc. it’s no @Cole Trickle garage, lol, but works for me.
Sorry, Cole. You do have a pretty sweet gig for a non RD type deal. (I’d put the thumbs up emoji thing her but some slacker hasn’t fixed that shit yet)

Another adult quad in the tool shed in the back yard.
I need to get rid of a quad, as 2 will fit in the shed but 3 will not.
Need room to pull the body from the pan and handle some things that need handling.
But I need the garage space.
So far I’ve collected some gauges and had Winnie at Meyers authenticate the body based on their metal VIN plate on the car and removing the tag to reveal the OG gelcoat.
It also helped having the non op.
Apparently your FIL had already had the car included in the Manx registry.
The paper trail and vin tag was great to have and made the process easy.
The OG color is actually sort of rare, Coldfire metalflake. I’m curious as to why it was painted, twice...
But I need some garage room!

Then the anti 2FF gene kicks in:D

You caught me. First thing i did was scan for the Manx. Actually can’t wait to see it done. The ALZ is a sob. He bought and did quite a few things twice.

Gelcoater, you sure you can handle all that power?
To bad it doesn't run. You could have taken it for a rip up and down the green belt for old times sake.

Some carb parts ordered, battery, air cleaner, a few other odds and ends.

It has begun!

Gas tank off, carb off exhaust off.
It’s old but low miles. All the cables feel fine. Brakes feel fine.
Tires are $50 each, lol.
Surprising how many parts are still available

Soichiro Honda became a self educated mechanic in the 1920s. His vision and work ethic were apparent at an early age. Prior to WWII, he owned a company that made piston rings for Toyota. Most of his plants were destroyed during the war. He sold what remained to Toyota and founded Honda Motor Co., Ltd in 1948. He built small engines for bicycles in a wooden shed, then began production of his first motorcycle.

In 1948 he began producing a complete motorized bicycle, the Type A, which was driven by the first mass-produced engine designed by Honda, and was sold until 1951. The Type D in 1949 was a true motorcycle with a pressed-steel frame designed and produced by Honda and with a 2-stroke, 98 cc (6.0 cu in) 3 hp (2.2 kW) engine, and became the very first model in the Dream series of motorcycles. The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (in Japanese) lists both the Type A and the Type D models as two of their 240 Landmarks of Japanese Automotive Technology.

This was the beginning of the huge conglomerate we know today. Honda builds and sells a panoply of manufactured goods, from lawn equipment to business jets. Their common thread is intelligent design, functionality, and durability.

We've always had a Honda product in the garage, going on thirty years.
