Hey Guys. Im trying to upgrade my Thermostat to a smart unit. Its the Honeywell wifi. Does this look right? Nothing works and it displays "Waiting On Equipment" also do I have a heat pump or conventional air? It asks for that in setup. I live in a highrise. Thanks in advance!the second pic is the new thermostat connections.

Do you have a heat pump? From the looks of the wiring I'd say you don't.

You're going to have to enter the setup from one of the screens and tell it what you have.

There has to be a setup menu under the "Sytem" tab. It will ask you about forced air, fuel, and a/c. follow prompts and answer the questions

Thanks sir. I selected Forced Conventional, and let it sit. Now all is working! Much appreciated.

Your unit looks like a water source heat pump, Go thru the set up instructions for a heat pump. You will have to set up the B or O for the reversing valve. When the unit comes on check air to see if it is cold or hot air. If its incorrect change B and O setting.

Just leave it when it comes time for heat you will know why your heat doesn't work.

Is this in your house or a commercial bldg? The piping there definitely indicates a water source heat pump. If it's a house in guessing you have a geothermal system?

Completely missed that. Lol!

OP, you have a water source heat pump. Change the internal programming to heat pump and the programming for the O/B terminal to energize for heat.

Ecobee is the hot ticket right now. The new model has built in Amazon Alexa, or you can find an older model without it.

It comes with remote sensors you can place in different zones.

Hey Guys , Bringing up an old topic. Its cold enough here in So Cal to use a little heat, and I cant get thermostat to activate heat. I hear the heat pump compressor kick on, but air is just normal. Not hot, not cold. I am using the settings "Heat Pump", Single Stage, No Emergnecy Heat. Any ideas? Anyone local in the Long Beach area care to come by and assist? Im more than glad to pay. Thanks!

Ecobee 3 lite has no Alexa and you can get room sensors separately. Ecobee4 has Alexa and room sensors. Both are current models. Ecobee3 is non Alexa with sensors. All are current models but most people don’t stick the ecobee3 anymore.

If the compressor is running and you have no heat. You have most likely 1 of 2 issues.

1) reversing valve has failed and isn’t completely switching over to heat. Would have the same problem in cool.

2) refrigerant charge issue.
