I ordered a new F250 and it is supposed to arrive on Wednesday. The price was already agreed to. So I could either trade my old truck in or keep it, they said they would give me a number when the new truck is almost here.

I currently have an 09 extended cab (not crew cab) GMC 2500 with a duramax and 82,000 miles. All the bells and whistles, leather, blah, blah, blah but completely stock. My third one, been hit twice in minor collisions but all on carfax. I drop the dealer today so they can tell me what I will get in trade for it as a couple friends might want to buy it. It cost 53,000 new in late 08.

So I drop by and 20 minutes later they come out and say 24,000, how does that sound. Umm....OK......

I just wonder who pays mid 20's for an 8 year old truck with 82,000 miles. No complaining, just amazed......

If they're gonna give you 24 that means you could easily get 26 or more private party. I just worked a deal on a 2500 6.0 gasser where they gave me 17k trade in on a 2011 2wd ecoboost w 80k miles that I bought used in 2013 with only 7k miles for 21,500. I traded it in but scratched my head on that one too...I've sold quite a few used vehicles but it's nice to avoid the hassle for a decent deal. Congrats on the Ford . My 6.0 had it's first check engine light on at a whopping 200 miles:thumbsdown

I bought my truck ( Chevy) 1 1/2 years ago and the amount of money they will give me in trade in is un real to me. Original dealer I bought it from. I ask why so good. He said , that all day long he sells good used trucks ,

Still on the fence of what I want next [emoji202]

Fair point but if I trade it in, I only pay sales tax on the difference. So 24k in trade in is the equivalent of a little over 26k in cash in my pocket. :thumbsup

Sorry about your 6.0, hopefully the 6.7's are a little better.

The fact that your accounting skill and my laziness both resulted in our respective tax breaks makes me feel like a winner all over again:thumbsup The four hours I lost Wed morning to take care of the "stabili trac" urgent code and onstar e-mails at 3,600 miles cut into mine a bit though:grumble: Another reason to trade is that if you sell to a friend and it has an issue any small financial gain would not be worth it at that point either IMO

Mine throws the stablilitrac light sometimes, usually a sharp turn or bump or bump is the cause. I've had it to dealer several times and they never have fixed it. It's an '09, I would love to know what the fix or sensor to replace is. Seems to have no affect on anything though while driving. I can always clear the warning light by shutting truck off and restarting, but it is an annoyance when that yellow warning message comes on.

Mine had the same problem a couple years ago until the light became permanent.

They replaced the Transmission Control Module and all was good.

Who knows?

Thanks, Is that an expensive part? Mines long out of warranty and I think they just ground me down during warranty because every time was a 2-3 day stay at dealer.

at 24 I say take it. yes you might be able to get 3-5k more pp, but you have to sell it.

which can be super easy or the biggest pita you can think of.

I just drove an F250 Platinum today, damn that's a nice truck. We are blackening it out, leveling it and putting wheels and tires on it. Should look good!

I sold my 2008 2500HD 4x4 crew cab for 30k with 135k on it on craigslist. The Duramax trucks command the highest resale out of any of them in those years. Cause they were the reliable ones [emoji51]

Wind or any shimmy gets mine. It stays on most of the time and after re-start . I'm sure with all the notifications if you don't take it in it voids the warranty . The sensor is linked to the steering per the service guys I've talked to. We all know what it feels like when a u joint starts to or goes out, and it's pretty obvious when you drop a rear end LOL. Pretty sure we do not need the Government motors monitoring system reaching that deep into our vehicles!! So 530, what are my tax ramifications on a 38-41k trade in of a '16 Chevy 2500 4x4 on a new 17' F-250 6.7 vs. the lost revenue in the waiting room over the lifetime of the Chevy?[emoji41]J/K -

No idea, they covered it under warranty.

LOL

The Chevy/GMC duramax is much less expensive for the same truck but I just wanted to switch to the Ford after all the GMC's I have had. I am tired of non-stop rattles. Maybe I will get tired of non-stop break downs. :D

The 2017 F250's are crazy price wise. Mine has a sticker of 78k, for a truck. :eek:eek:eek:eek

Even after all those election bets, still a baller!:D

If you have the time, I'd recommend trying to sell the dmax private party, if you have the patience for CL or autotrader. With only 80k on it you could land $26-28k, most of the older low mileage well cared for diesels are holding pretty steady if not inflating in price a bit.

Also the 6.7's have pretty much been trouble free since 14/15, so you will enjoy the hell out of that rig.

Was it 4x4? You could of got a lot more. I sold my 06 with 84k for $31k and probably could of got more was asking $35k paid $47k in 06 new.

The new trucks are crazy priced. The custom cabinet guy was showing off his new limited addition Tundra yesterday. Had interior like a king ranch. Said it was $65k low $70's OTD. I told him you could of bought a diesel for that. He said got one Dually ford, has had nothing but problems so bought a tundra.

Listening to you all and the prices your getting for your used trucks, mine might be up for sale shortly.

My friend has that 2016 F250 lifted, might be for sale in 2 months if his new business does not take off. It is a nice truck but I went Chevy after so many issues with the fords be hard to go back. He offered I drove it tempting. He already offered to sell me my old boat back at a huge loss to him. Just not sure about owning 2 boats.

My Cadillac CTS had that problem. It would jerk the car. The steering wheel positioning sensor that is in the column, in front of the kick panel was the culprit. Replacing it took a few hours. Dealer wanted $800. The part was $150.

This thing has all sorts of stuff us old people will never use. Cameras everywhere to include an auxiliary camera to hook to your trailer camera. Lane departure stick shaker. This thing makes my 09 look like a 1950 truck. :D

That's a nice truck. Just seen one like it on the freeway and thought for a second it was a 150 with some bulkier panels on it. They look nimble as hell. Ford is killing it in the interior department. Congrats!

I sold my Duramax 6 months to a year too early. I could have got waaaaaay more for it. I thought the new body style would kill my value. Well shit, I wasn't anticipating 0% interest rates.

What's that old saying?... If you don't have to sell something don't. :smackhead

I had an 02 Duramax crew. 150k miles. Truck was Mint. Loaded with Banks parts. Took it for a trade on a new truck. One place said 7k and another said 10k...Put it on Ebay. It did $14,300 I just sold it Monday. I bought this truck six years ago for 18K so it cost me $3,700 to drive it six years. Not to bad in my book.

I did some serious shopping and found a 2013 Duramax with 97K LTZ Z-71 Every single option. 30K Texas truck. That is about 12K less than anything else I could find. BIG DADDY.jpg

Some food for thought...I got quoted $52k for a 2017 2500HD CREW/4x4 but decided to buy a 2006 2500HD for 29k...It's crazy to spend $29k on a 10yr old truck but 5 others were coming that day to come see it...
