First off, I'm really glad your family wasn't hurt. Just heard a lot of the experts are claiming they believe this damage was caused by 100mph+ straight winds, not that it makes much difference to the people affected.:(

oldest lives in Katy...

power claimed out for two weeks..

he's running generator for Fridge and work computer..

no lights or AC... suppose to be hot and humid next week .

RIP everyone
Thankfully he and family is OK. At least it is livable and he can stay. I heard well over 1 million without power and going to be for a while.

My family members said it was like a BOMB went off, a boom so loud something they never heard before or wish to ever hear again. Scary as can be BUT they are as we are very thankful they are alive. I heard 100+ as well.

WOW another update, tornado's path damaged west side 1/2 their house and the roof caving it in, 1 bedroom, kitchen, huge pantry, laundry area where they were hunkered down, living dining area all damaged like a bomb went off. VERY EERIE, East side of the house Master Bedroom, Office, 2 other bedrooms all on the east side of the house untouched like it was normal no water damage no structural damage. Insurance says tornado touched down on the west side of their house also destroying the house just west of them next door, also took a huge portion of their roof beams and shot them across the street into their neighbors house like cannon fire. You can stand in the house and see sky on one half and the other half looks normal like nothing ever happened. Just so freaky.

This storm took down massive trees. Tops of pine trees from 5 houses down hit people house and put holes in them. Trees halfway up just cut in half. Crazy amount of force.

I had my family under the stairs during the 25 minutes of wind.

My guess is no power until next Friday. We have so many down lines and trees still on them. Our neighborhood is cleaning up quickly but don’t see the power companies pulling lines back up.

Glad all are OK. Tornadoes are why I picked North Dallas area. Highest point in the county, major weather seems to go around us. Still, I learned about a thing called “straight line wind”. That’s what hit DT Houston. Kind of like a tornado without the spinning. They can get real nasty.

The news went to their house and interviewed my BIL and went through his house showing the damage on air. WOW Texas is fast, contractors already shored up the damaged part of the house and temp sealed the roof areas. Bridgeland builders are NOTHING BUT AMAZING, their house was one of the 7 worst damaged so Bridgeland builders told them not to worry, once the power was back on they have a choice of a few different houses to stay in in the area rent free for 3 months while the contractors make their homes habitable again...gotta hand it to them good job builders. (it is a 1000 acre master planned community so they have a lot vested in showing they care and we are all so thankful for their help). Life felt destroyed for them and now there is a lot of hope...what a rollercoaster. I want to thank all that wished them well and said prayers for all hurt by these tornados along with folks that offered to help. RD members rock.

You don't hey that kinda help here when an earthquake hits but the contractors house 2 blocks away is also destroyed unlike a tornado his house may look like there wasn't a tornado within a hundred miles even though he's 2 blocks away

Well as the rollercoaster goes had some concerning news, engineer came in yesterday and says since the roof seems to have been lifted and dropped back down and he thinks the entire structure may have twisted they may have to do a complete demo and rebuild, we find out in a few days after more inspection results. A big concern is insurance said since the houses went up in roughly the 4 years since they built it the costs of everything from the upgraded cabinets, granite, flooring and fixtures the insurance may not cover it all. I told them do what ever it takes to build it back to what makes you happy even if it costs you more than you expected or you will not be happy in the end. I hope they can rebuild without having to demo (as long as the structure is solid with no exceptions).

I can't imagine all that they're going through. On top of all this, they still have all the things in life that normally cause stress.

Thats bullshit. So now we have to have insurance on our houses with "agreed upon values"? The whole purpose of insurance is to make you whole again. Biden fucked the economy and everything skyrocketed. That's the insurance companies issue, not the homeowners.

Ya it's shitty but they do have extended or guaranteed replacement plans. Being in the emergency mitigation industry I carry it on my home.

I was involved with 2 tornados when I lived in Alabama. It was scary as hell. Windy, rainy, debris flying, then dead calm then all hell breaks loose.

Prayers to all involved

A friends brother closed on his home in OK and 3 days later it got hit bad. It looked repairable but the tornado picked the entire home up and moved it 5 feet.
