Biden also noted he co-wrote the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner with Francis Scott Key in 1814.

LA requires a Pilot to arrive but I am not sure if they require one to depart. One thing is for certain The LA Pilots must have a radio that transmits with a 1000 watts. We can hear those guys well past Catalina at times.
Pilotage requirements are the same for arrival & departures. Believe LA requires a pilot for vessels over 300 GT. LB is likely the same. Although, even though they are connected, they are 2 distinct operations, LA Harbor Pilots and Jacobsen Pilots for LB. The Los Angeles Marine Exchange acts much as air traffic control for the area. They can be heard on VHF for many miles. Offshore traffic lanes are clearly indicated on charts for the area.

Was always curious. Thanks for the solid info and I'll relay that to my partners. I am enjoying the boat a ton more being back in Sunset.

I do know Willard Marine made a bunch of Pilot Vessels and even rented our yard parking area when they had overflow. There was a bunch of Military stuff they made also. This is Anaheim off Tustin Ave.

Jennifer Homedy, NTSB Chair, seems to be doing a good job of reporting and answering questions.

Don’t believe she’ll back up Biden’s reported train travel across the Chesapeake on that particular bridge.

Hazardous Material, as currently being reported by news media - that includes paint. A better defined description would be more informative.

By the way, I'd bet a good amount of money by tomorrow, there will be a racial component linked to the crash established by someone in the Biden administration and the media.
As I predicted, here it is. The Washington Post informs us that Francis Scott Key was a racist.

"'The Star-Spangled Banner' did not become the national anthem until more than a century after it was written because of controversy, partly over Key’s racist views. One section of the poem’s third verse, in particular, has come under scrutiny from those who say it was intended to mock or threaten African Americans who escaped slavery to join the British forces, after being promised land in exchange for their service."

That song is so difficult to remember and sing, people make mistakes all the time, I myself have missed the "N" word in that song. I have to go study.🤣

As of the day of the incident, the ships master was listed as Ukrainian. Oddly, this information has since been removed from the website: balticshipping.com This screen shot is from two days ago:

Do they have barges/equipment clearing the channel yet? Seems as soon as rescue efforts subsided they would make that a priority?

I'd imagine there is some serious logistics involved with clearing the debris. You're not just gonna show up with a torch and start hacking away.

Some very large barge cranes will need to be called in, and they're probably on other projects all over the place.

I don't know how deep that area is, but if it's deep enough, I would bet a lot of that steel is headed to the bottom.

Should be about 50ft right there...so not horrible. There is a lot of energy in that twisted up structure. Maybe find a hole and run some big ass ships through there at full steam and drop an anchor off the back to hook and at least drag stuff out of the way so they can open up a shipping lane, then the recovery of the stuff underwater isn't so critical. Use Maersk ships...since they fucked it up in the first place.

Spill 'em!
Numerous strong arm robbery type deals, guy's go with em after hours and meet their friends, most just hand over the money and never tell anyone because they are embarrassed.
Had a super cool and really nice guy working for me, calls me at home 10 days after we flew out of Dutch. Chief I need a big favor?.....Can I get a draw on my settlement?...Where are you?...Anchorage, I never made it home to California.
Went to the club and a stripper spotted an easy mark, Gary is one of the nicest people I have ever known. She climbed on for the ride and took him good, worked 4 months and she got 90% of what the kid made. He bought her a car, took her clothes shopping and hit the town every night.
Called me when she said she was going to visit a friend and never came back, at that point he knew he got rolled.
Poor guy was almost crying, told him she loved him and everything.

Sorry to disappoint but the Hubba level stories are staying where they belong.

We ever sit down and have a beer together I'll tell you some shit that belongs in the past.👍

I was at the Bush Company on international grand opening way back when. Before that it was the original one on 4th Ave.
Grew up in Anchorage from age 10 to age 40.
Remember when Edna’s Kid got arrested for murder for blowing up that dudes car on 4th avenue?
That was before she opened the Bush in Phoenix.
As teens we would sneak in the ally doors of all the clubs on 4th avenue.
This was WAY before Tony Knowles beautified downtown.
During the pipeline years there would be no less than 6-8 hookers, mostly under 21, on every single corner from nearly Merrill Field to the captain cook hotel.
“Wild West” doesn’t even begin to describe 1975 Anchorage.
Saw more than a few shooting and murders, every single week there was a news story of oilfield guys blowing their 2-6 week paychecks in an single night and trying (unsuccessfully) to get their money back.
When I was 18 I was grandfathered in to drinking age because of where my birthday fell.
At that time I would guess there was AT LEAST 25 strip joints in Anchorage.

Not likely to leave much on the bottom. The channel is about 50’ deep and the areas outside of it are 25/40’ approximately.

Wrap a chain around it and drag it out to deeper water. Be like a dredge at the same time.

I didn't suspect it being very deep. It's going to be a big clean up operation.

Back in the day the Bush Company would fly in the best talent in the country.

Mostly from an “agency” in San Diego.
Local independents would primarily be associated with the Anchorage HA chapter. Some were true independents, my cousin in law was a star attraction with no affiliation.
She was a personal trainer by day, like 22 yo and drop dead gorgeous. On a scale of 1-10 she was easily a 95.0 lol she’d pull thousands in a good night.
There was so much money that real turf wars occurred up and down the west coast trying to supply girls, and the girls themselves would just show up trying to get on the money train.
My boss was the HA Sargent at arms and treasurer.
It was somewhat due to him that I have zero respect for 1%’ers and their crimes.
Oh wait…I forgot…I’m a Karen now.🙄🙄

Some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen were in that place back in the 90's into mid 2000's, few that I hooked up with didn't discuss their employment.
I think at one point a lot of talent was coming from the Deja Vu chain.
Sometimes end my night at the Crazy Horse where the rules ;) were a little more lax. I wasn't really a strip club guy, once or twice a year deal.
Funny deal, only room I could get when I landed one night was the Super 8 on Spenard, next door was a club (Shithole), wandered over for a beer and it was fetish night, all of the strippers were pregnant. o_O
