My first real BMX bike was an 80s Mongoose with the cast Motomags. At one point I didn't like the smaller spokes and wanted them to look more like Tuff Wheels, I knocked the small spokes out. Hahaha. Real safe. However, I am sure those wheels were so overbuilt I was fine and never had a problem.

Later on I have a super trick Mongoose IBOC mountain bike.

The documentary on the history of one of the most iconic bicycles of all time.

I had a Redline with the Moto Mags (those wheels were heavy!!). Then I built a Mongoose with Skyways (Tuff Wheels). Then I had a Supergoose with a Skyway in the rear and an Alloy up front.

First Mtn. bike I built was a carbon tube/aluminum lug frame...mongoose IBOC. Rode the shit outta that thing. Had the original Manitou 1 forks on it....I pulled out the elastomers and replaced them with honda valve springs and brass freeze plugs as retainers...then threaded a piece of 1/4" rod to get 2.5" of travel out of 'em. Took it down the Kamikaze at Mammoth in 1995

I had a Mongoose as a kid. I was the next to youngest kid in the family so I had lots of hand me down bikes and that goose was the only new bike. I remember working/cleaning/upgrading it every weekend.

My wife still wants a PK Ripper.

Had the Mid 70’s Supergoose. Heaviest bike on my block. I was jealous of my friends who had lighter cooler bikes like the PK Ripper, Redline or SE.
