Nobody asked me if they could park it there overnight, and I know damn well they aren't going to repair the lawn, the sidewalk or for that matter the sewer line they probably drilled through anytime soon, so I guess I'll just offer it up for auction to the RDP folks first before I put it on ebay...Looks pretty new, I don't think you could go wrong here if we start the bidding at say $1?:D

Setting your area up with cable (at the least) or fiber-optic?

Faster internet connection is always a good thing, right?;)

I'm sure it's some sort of soon to be outdated cable for something. They have another drill sitting down the street though, they will barely miss this one.:D

Sure is nice that they parked it across your sidewalk. I would really hate to see you run into it and hurt yourself :hmm

It's still winter here, the lawn was covered in snow from roughly the week of Christmas until yesterday, also...JBB takes care of all my lawn maintenance.

Hold on...I have an idea....back in a minute...:D

Okay I was going to hang a for sale sign on it today or maybe an RD Sux sticker, but I didn't have time before work...however, I did get a nice phone call this afternoon.:D

Nervous voice of city engineer
"Uh, uh sir...uh this is City of Bloomington....uh really sorry...uh really sorry...some contractors in your area running fiber optic cable uhh...accidentally drilled through your water supply line...Uhhh...
"Uh...sir...uh...it's my understanding they had about 15 feet of copper wrapped around their drill so they may have pulled the whole supply out from your house..."

"Holy shit, that's awesome! Cool! Did you get a picture of that?"

"Uh um, what?..uh... I don't think so sir...Anyway, we already talked to your next door neighbors and they said we could run a hose from their spigot to your spigot and back pressure the system so you at least have water tonight."

At that point, I really wanted to ask the guy if he was a fucking moron who liked getting yelled at, since he was offering to run a hose (probably some nasty old muddy hose out of a city warehouse) across my lawn to the neighbors house in sub-zero temps outside!

"I think I'll just do without water tonight and you guys can fix it properly tomorrow."

"Okay we'll get it fixed up for you first thing tomorrow"

I'm thinking the poor guy thought I was really going to chew his ass, but having worked construction for years I thought it was pretty amusing, almost expected it to happen.:D

Problems like this usually take about 2 weeks to solve ;):p

It looks like it is probably sitting in a utility easement and they don't need your permission if that is the case nor do they nave to fix any cosmetic damage done to property within the easement. Read your title report to be sure.

Okay this just gets better and better. Upon looking in the crawl space, they actually pulled the water meter through the brick basement wall. Currently there is a back hoe tearing out my driveway, since the water line runs under it. Free new driveway. Free foundation repair. Nice!:D

Slip the back hoe operator a twenty and have him knock your roof off as well. :D Sounds like someone tried to save a buck and skipped the underground survey. DOHHH...

I think the whole house is structurally compromised. ;)
If i were you I'd have everything remotely related to the damage inspected before you sign off on being ok with their fixes. I think you 102 inch plasma tv fell off of its stand and shattered when the house shook. Right?
;)

The area formerly known as my driveway and front yard...and a tutorial of how to remove 120 year old foundation bricks from 30 feet away using a water meter.:D

when the guy from the city called, and mentioned the problem, you should have said, "Oh, is that why that machine was parked on my yard-?, well
they must have fixed something cause some men with a truck and trailer
came and got the machine a couple hours ago. they never spoke to me
at my door".......................

then the city guy, and the contractors would start thinking, oh shit, somebody just stole our boring tractor......

glad to see it's getting fixed... and you are a good sport for taking it all
in stride...
