Also, looking for a good airbrush artist to put something like this on the entire deck, kinda like an Orange County Choppers' theme bike :D

If anyone has some contacts, hit me up :p

My boat is not at the same place as Carson's and Lynch's, they are using Scott Kornowski, who does absolutely beautiful work also, really second to none. Scott is very busy and it worked out better for me to leave it with Steve, He had room to keep the boat over the course of a few months while he works on it in between daily repairs, I am in no major hurry and he worked a good deal with me to do it with no hard set deadlines.

The 21' Brummett is coming along nicely...our boy in Havasu is doing some great work...says the mural should be done by next week :)

Any artist rendurings or working drawings that you can share with the rest of the class?

Popped through Havi yesterday on our way down to Parker for a mid week boating session with our Mandella and the red one that RD posted up for sale a few weeks back. Boat is looking good.

It still has to be totally color sanded and buffed, and some blocking on the deck, but it is coming out pretty good. The entire deck gel was totally spiderwebbed when we bought it, from sitting outside in the heat so long. Also there was quite a bit of the roving cloth showing through all around the outer gunwale from gel and glass shrinkage, which is all gone now.

I told him whatever he did "do not change Carson's pinstripe lines" on the deck gunwale, as they make the corner perfectly without dipping. But other than that to do what he wanted just stick with the same colors. I like how he brought the charcoal up over the molding line. Kinda different without being too drastic and veering off from the classic lines.

Yeah, with oar stays maybe :D

I have so much other work going on i don't think i'll be able to touch it this winter.

This thing is a perfect candidate for a 400R Merc!

Get grumpy on it...he doesn't have shit to do but hang out in Parker and bug Linder :skull

Rude V8, i don't think a 2.5 would have enough power for this thing, you'd need 2 :skull

two sounds perfect...you can massage one a bit and get about 320hp out of them fairly reliably.

I repowered our boat from a V8 to 300X over the winter. Got to admit I liked the torque & sound of the V8 way more. But, being able to turn the key and go is something I never had with the carb'd V8. Peak power is about the same & the 300x uses about 1/2 the gas too.

320 hp 2.5 are a pain in the ass. 300xs Dave Bush and never think about it.

That is a great looking Brummett for sure.

My good buddies at All Season's marine have a ton of experience with those motors and they said the same thing, it'll be pretty hard to match the torque of that motor with anything modern. The one brother had one in his 4 seat long travel sand car for at least 10 years, that thing ran like a raped ape, aside from cooling issues on warm days.

Being as i have the Motec hookup i've thought in the back of my mind that it would be cool to do an EFI conversion to that v8, just for the experience. It would be the perfect candidate for an m84 box. It would never be as good as a modern DI motor in the efficiency part, but it would be a major upgrade from screwing with 8 clogged up carbs all the time :D

Al stoker has done a couple efi rude V8s. [emoji106][emoji106]

I agree that there is nothing out there that will replace the power of a v8 rude. We were able to score a factory long block in the event the motor ever pops on the blue stoker. [emoji106]

I remember 5-6 years ago, Al talking of a NOS crated long block he had access to. I was trying to talk him into working his magic on ours but his back was getting to him. Seriously considered the long block.

That's the one. He always would tell me he was saving it for us, but would never let me buy it out right. And then when he close the shop he called me and told me to come get it.

Guy did a really good job on the gel, especially considering the price which was the deal of the century. The only thing i told him was don't fuck with Carson's tape lines on the upper deck, and i like the colors. Other than that have at. I think bringing the colors up over the cap and up into that rear deck seam really sets it off nice, there is a ton of pearl in it and a bunch of deep details in there that you can see in the sun, some subtle scallops and pins. Overall I'm happy and excited to have it back at the shop. :thumbsup

Looks great, I don't remember is it gel, or paint?

Quite a change side by side, a lot darker. The entire deck was spiderwebed and had shrinkage seam showing down the middle from the wood underneath, it had been sitting outside in the heat for years.

Also he turned the boat upside down and extended the strakes several feet to better suit the ouboard config

Got too busy doing work for everyone else, as they say the plumber's faucet always drips... The dark blue Brummett is a badass boat  GFaulk here on the boards had it for a while.
