Can you fix USPS while you are at it?
This happens to me at least 3 times/month….the fuckers lose it before they get a chance to scan it in. It’s annoying, because you can’t even create an insurance claim.Doesn't appear to be a Postal issue, the shipper hasn't tendered it to the USPS yet.
My wife said same thing about USPS trackingI've found that the USPS tracking system fails to update frequently. I'll recieve the package but tracking still shows it's halfway to destination.
Amazon even says sorry, it appears your item was lost in transit & offers a refund. I write back and say I got it. Then they still offer a refund, lol. Weird.![]()
It works both ways. We recently told Amazon that we wanted them to reduce 50% of their volume to us because at the end of the day it’s just not profitable. Usps has basically done the same to us with a service level that we call Sure post which we are now delivering instead of them to the end userA lot of people compare the USPS to UPS or Fedex, and that's not a fair comparison. The USPS visits everyplace with an address in the US every single day (Except for some rural areas that have mailbox clusters I guess...).
The amount of manpower that takes is substantial. The UPS guy might stop at 2 or so houses per block per day.
Their system I don't think has kept up with internet commerce, which is why it's falling apart, and with the current postage rates for packages, I don't think they'll be able to get things where they need to be. The USPS is currently about 1/2 the price of UPS or Fedex for smaller packages, which is the majority of what's sent. I think I spent about about $30K with the USPS last year, which would have been $50-60K with the other carriers. They've lose about $1500 worth of packages per year....which isn't too bad considering the alternative.
Sure Post was that program where you guys would get it to the local post office and the USPS was getting it to the house...right? Yeah...that program didn't look promising from the start. It works both ways. That’s correct.Sure Post was that program where you guys would get it to the local post office and the USPS was getting it to the house...right? Yeah...that program didn't look promising from the start.
To be fair, you guys do some dumb shit too....I can ship 2 brake rotors....48.8lbs in a 14x14x6 box from CA to FL for $25 via UPS simple rate....lol. I did 30 boxes last month....cheaper than pallet freight. That’s correct.
Usps gets absolutely decimated with volume from Amazon, so you put the sure post on top of it and they simply just don’t have the manpower to manage it all. Hence why they wanted a 45% increase for them to deliver it.
Hey man, if it helps the customer at the end of the day, it’s fine with me.To be fair, you guys do some dumb shit too....I can ship 2 brake rotors....48.8lbs in a 14x14x6 box from CA to FL for $25 via UPS simple rate....lol. I did 30 boxes last month....cheaper than pallet freight.
I ship a lot of UPS, but it goes through eBay and Shopify for the most part so it doesn't reflect on my acct.....to ship that same box based on weight/size, it's north of $100. I don't do the volume through my acct to get reasonable rates on stuff, so I use the simple rate program when it benefits me.Hey man, if it helps the customer at the end of the day, it’s fine with me.
Personally, I think we need to get back to some type of rate structure that makes it reasonable for people to ship with us.
As you shouldI ship a lot of UPS, but it goes through eBay and Shopify for the most part so it doesn't reflect on my acct.....to ship that same box based on weight/size, it's north of $100. I don't do the volume through my acct to get reasonable rates on stuff, so I use the simple rate program when it benefits me.
I'm not complaining....because I've structured my shipping to take advantage of all the shipping programs out there, but I laugh every time I print a label for those rotor sets....because it's about the same price as a large USPS flat rate box full of air. I don't make the rules, I just exploit them.
