Think about if you all of a sudden passed…

What would happen to all your shit?

Tools
Guns
Porn collection
Boats
Cars
Reloading supplies
Off road toys bikes cars etc

I just hope the wife doesn’t get a new pool boy when I’m going going …. Gone!

The hope is that my sons would want my tiny collection of invaluable items. Not because any of it holds any real sentimental value, but because they might take an interest in the things I've enjoyed. When I'm gone, it won't really matter. 🤷

I have a Snap-On addiction. Been going on the truck for forty years. My wife is awesome, five years ago my Snap-On dealer walks in the shop and asks where I want my new box. Puzzled, I said what box? He said my wife bought me the big one on the truck for our wedding anniversary. I would have never spent that kind of money for a tool box, but I love it. I have the same problem, no one to leave it to, my daughter is a nurse and no boys.
I have been wanting to reach out to you in regards to a 23andMe DNA test I took earlier this year....

My Dad passed 5 years ago. The last day in his shop I was with him. Neither of us knew he wouldn't get back there.

He didn't really have a chance to set all that stuff up except through a lengthy convo with me hours before his passing.

I tell you what though, a week after he passed our IT guy got in touch with me. He has access to all our work computers and home computers. He knew EXACTLY what to do. He told me, "I have some things to do." And that was that, not another word was said nor question asked.

Plan ahead, have an exit strategy and have a team you trust.

Is it me or is this thread a mix between a Snap On AA meeting, "Hi, my name is......... I have a Snap On addiction." And a covert blind auction where everybody wants it but nobody posts their number. Bet DM's are flying to OP and nobody is saying boo about it.

“Might take an interest”. If they’re not into it now they likely will never be. Without you there to guide them through it.

Trade the entire set for something cool. Then sell said item. Sounds a lot easier than it would be but its an idea

What’s the high bid ?

Asking for a freind 👀

I’m at 12,500 which is about what I believe it wouldn’t bring that much at auction..

No inventoried list etc.. sight unseen..

There’s plenty of people with more money and more use for them then me on here. If it was worth more than that someone would have stepped up Already.

Sucks to say but at an estate sale I think it’s 8-10k max.. those that think otherwise obviously haven’t been to an estate sale or auction on shit like this. 10cents on the dollar is about what it brings on the high note. Less usually if they don’t have a lot of bidders or good descriptions.

I don't know Snap-On tools like many of you do but so far the OP has posted what, 3 small pics of 2-3 boxes? RD has offered $12,500. If I'm the OP I'm contacting him to close the deal and get some RDP swag as a bonus.

Otherwise, I'd suggest posting at least one pic of each drawer so people can SEE what this collection consists of. Like I said, I don't know a lot about Snap-On but I'd never offer $12.5K based on the 3 pics I've seen.

Wishing the OP, his family well and RD success in his bid to win the tools

Hello Folks,

I need a bit of advice / guidance please. I have been given the not so pleasurable task of attempting to liquidate my recently passed brother in-laws tools. I know there is a huge Snap-On market on EBay but we really don't have the desire or time to piece it out and ship 1000's of individual items. I can’t even explain how packed these boxes are!!! He was an incredible welder, machinist, fabricator, engineer, car builder & designer and had just about every tool to support his career. 98% of the items are Snap-on & in near perfect condition.

The local Snap-on dealers have provided little to no help. We haven’t completed the piece by piece inventory but the initial estimated retail value is hovering around $100K. The boxes alone were $20K. The estates preference is to sell the package as a whole.

What the hell do I do with it???

As a whole will it bring .30 to .40 cents on the dollar?

We appreciate your help or suggestions? Thanks Tim

Do you want to do an actual auction on rdp?

Open every drawer and take DETAILED pics of everything?

If you are down, I’m down.. as mentioned we saw three / four pics. I’m in need of a second (or in some cases third) set of tools.. I offered what I offered based on what I’ve seen and what I need.

I’m down to do it.. 5% is going to the house though. (Cheaper than the 10% auction houses charge and I got a bigger audience then any small one)

I would love a shot at that, Honestly, I would sell probably 1/4 to 1/3 of it, the rest would be mine.....all mine...... (insert evil laugh). I mentioned it to the wife and lets just say she was unimpressed with the idea. I even have the means for easy transportation. Just roll it into the enclosed trailer and strap it to the e-track.

I'm not a player for the lot, but will be if the new owner started to piece some of the setup.

As a resident cheap ass and scrounger:
As mentioned, detailed pics of drawers
Blow mold case items open and closed
Roll cabs, 4 sides and top, model#'s
...that type of stuff ;)

If done here, there are a lot of eyes that are into the stuff. Maybe a few that want to seriously up their man cave game, or have always wanted this type of setup but could never bring themselves to do so...as it's "just a hobby".

I've never had 12-15k to spend on tools at once. I have a ballpark of what I've spent, and it's kind of shocking.

Hello Gents,

I was laying low with the hope that this thread would cool off! I didn’t want to get my PP smacked by RD for “spamming” the lounge, which was never my intent.

I‘m absolutely humbled by the support, offers of advice & the amount of interest! Thank You!

Over the next few weeks I’m going to get a decent inventory & better pictures of every drawer & kits within those drawers. Once I do so I will post it in the classifieds.

I can't even explain how much stuff is there!!! I bet there is $5K in Tig consumables & abrasives, probably 50 different pneumatic & cordless tools. He was an artist & absolute perfectionist when it came to his craft & the tools that supported it. He built many $1M++ cars during his career with So-Cal Speed Shop, Hot Rods & Hobbies, Walden, Tesla, Rivian, Foose, Joby Aviation & others.

He was 48, incredibly close with his sister (my wife) & passed VERY un-expectantly. She was given the responsibility to administer his estate. Emotionally she is struggling with the loss. Handling the liquidation of his material items is what I can do to help. I mention this because taking a reasonable loss on his investment & selling them as a whole will get her / us that much closer to some closure & healing. We have zero financial interest in this, there is only a possibility the proceeds will find their way to my son if that’s what Uncle Moose’s aging parents decide. Thanks Tim

My dad passed at 67, leaving me all of his tools.

That consisted of a couple HF crescent wrenches,
mismatched screwdrivers
and a Mont Blanc pen.

He was a lawyer, after all.

I’m not in the same league, but I told my only son, when your mom calls and tells you, come straight to the house, get the tools ( look in ALL the drawers ), the guns/truck/boat. Get the coach to the dealer on consignment, get the grass cut, and take care of your mom. Do it immediately before anyone else has a chance, don’t listen to anybody, don’t sell anything you get from me!!!!!!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that many vise grips...hell I have half a dozen pairs and thought that was excessive.
You need all of them plus. We would replace a complete side panel on an ambulance etc. and use fifty pairs in a heartbeat. Most everything these days is put together with panel bonding adhesive. Need to hold it tight until it cures.

Welding / machining etc.. sheet metal

You can’t have too many. Although I use a lot of c clamps instead of vice grip style, same applications

I am not trying to slap your hand.. but intent or not I’m not ignorant to the what’s it worth threads that happen in here daily.

You asked what to do. There’s two pages of “find an auction house” responses..

I offered a decent sum of money (people can debate if it’s low or high all the want.. but you don’t see them stepping up to the plate, and believe me it isn’t because there are people lacking money on here)

I also offered you the ability to auction it off on here so long as you are willing to abide by some basic auction rules.

Let me know what ya want to do or how you are going to proceed. I hope you get the max value for it whether I end up with it or not.

If you find an auction house let me know when the auction is.. Worst case is I’ll bid it up to the numbers I can afford.

Raffle it. $25 a ticket. Hell... even $50 a ticket. You will make the money you ask and some. People will be in for multiple tickets (myself included) Get a few hundred or more sold, and you’re done. One lucky winner. I just don’t know the legalities or requirements of raffling something off. Im very sorry for your families loss. Best of luck.

So sorry for your family's loss. What a gut punch, way to young to go. Sucks that he does not have a son or daughter that got interested in his builds and learned his trade and took over his tools, it is becoming a lost art. Again, sorry for your family's loss.

Really sorry for your loss. As I get older, the death of friends and family occurs on an increasing basis. Truly sucks.

That said, our youngest Daughter is back home after living on her own for a couple of years. She is just finishing her pre-reqs and is applying for a Masters in nursing program at several Colleges. She plans to stay home while going to school. She’s 24 and a semi-hustler when it comes to marketing stuff on line. Mostly cloths and girl type stuff but she’s pretty good at it.

It occurred to me that if I gave her access to my eBay account, she’d probably jump at the chance to market these tools. I opened my eBay account in 1999 and have a flawless record (1700 or so feedback comments I think) that includes the sale of 100s of thousands of dollars of cars, motor parts, boat parts, cycles, etc.

if you’d consider letting her take possession of the tools, I’m sure she would be willing to do a 50/50 split (after selling expenses) selling individual pieces and groups of like pieces. I’d give her a hand and perhaps front $10,000 (or so, depending on final inventory) to you as good faith money that could be credited against sales as they occur.

Just a thought.

Your Brother had skills. Condolences 🙏. If I had the garage space I would be interested in making a offer. A Man's tools are worth more than 12 cents on the dollar.
