Help I'm stuck in Parker. Need transmission shop

Here for the races.2 miles out side Parker broke my transmission. I only have 1st 2nd and reverse. I Live 6 hours away and don't know anybody out here. If some one can point me in the right direction I really appreciate it. I heard there is a Chevy dealer out here? On the bright side at least I was able to put my boat back in the water. and not a bad place to be stranded! Lol

Sounds like the it burned 3-4 clutch, thats the weak link in those transmissions. Im not familiar any shops out that way, but a rebuild is in order

Fuck how long does it take to do a job like that? I got my wife 2 kids and mother in law With me. I wonder how much it would be to tow truck home
and rent a truck to tow boat home???

Rent a u haul and a tow dolly? Load truck on the dolly backwards, tie off the steering wheel and haul ass. Or load from the front and pull the drive shaft and haul ass. It start with Robinson though.

Maybe somebody in Parker or Havasu can grab your boat and trailer and stash it away for a week or two while the truck gets looked at.

My '01 HD2500 pulled a bad transmission part a few years back during the week of Christmas to New Years. All Bulhead private transmission shops closed for the week. Had it towed to GM dealer and they had it for 4 or 5 days. River house was full of food and booze so no wheels needed.

Is it a 1/2 ton with a 4spd auto? If so its a 4l60. The dealer gets about 1600 for a reman trans but that includes a GM warranty, its worth the couple extra $$ to go that route if youre gonna keep the truck. Independant shops charge 1000-2000 bucks for the rebuild plus around 300 labor to R&R. To me if your keeping the truck for a the GM warranty is worth it

I would suggest doing what was recommended earlier. Leave truck and boat rent car go home in the am.

Thanks pm me if you hear from him.i also left him msg. If. Rent rent a car and have to come back might not work to well cant come back for 3 weeks. Hopully robinson or chevy can fix by Tuesday if not i have no choice to leave both truck and boat. We will see what happens tommorow .no need to stress now. It is what it is . things could always be worse.

If you have a 4L60E...and it's outta warranty, best to get a spare built and bring with you, along with tools any time you're out of free towing range. After you've swapped 'em a few times, you can do it in the dark in an hour or two. I've changed 7 in 2 trucks that I've owned....next failure is getting a manual swap

Bradley Chevrolet in Parker put a trans in my motor home a few years back. They did a good job at a fair price, but I did have to go home and come back in 2 weeks to pick it up.

Back in 2004 I had the L480E fail in a brand new 2500HD. Failed in route to the River just past Rice at 1 am. What a long, unarmed, nervous night with the wife, boat, and two little kids. Towed the truck and boat into Bradley Chevrolet Saturday morning, rented a car for the weekend.

Could not launch my boat as there was nowhere to rent a truck. Stayed at the Bluewater and drove home in the little rental chevy car (cavalier maybe), and came back a week later and picked the truck up.

That truck had 1800 miles on it and still paper plates. Bradley Chevrolet never knew what failed, just put a reman Chevy trans back in. It was under warranty but was VERY expensive. Over $4k per the paperwork. No rental coverage and that was $250+ but whatever.

Brand new truck got a run of the mill rebuilt trans out of a box. Such a deal. That trasns went out again at 44k miles, fixed again under warranty, then I sold it and L480E's are supposed to be OK.

I had one go on a 2002 Tahoe. Driving 40MPH on a slight downhill not even on the gas and it went! Guy that rebuilt it found a c clip in the bottom of the pan that took out the transmission. At least it happened about half mile from the house.

When I re Ted the car from enterprise I did a one way rental and left the car in Simi . So that is still probably a answer . We are in parker but I don't have my truck . We brought are car . Sorry . Good luck

Late to the party but Penske / Budget moving vans are the way to go if you have to tow something 1 way or around town. Been there done that.

Both Hertz and Avis at the airport do one way rentals for under $100.

I lost 4th gear coming back from Havasu 2 years ago in my '04 2500HD and limped it home...but I still had 3rd gear.
I ended up buying a Remanufactured L480E from our local Chevy dealer for $3400 out the door.
That comes with a 3 yr 100K warranty from GM.

Just giving you a comparison price.
