Cool thanks for sharing.

I heard they hit their triple digit speed goal at LOTO this morning.

SMH....

First outboards, now electric outboards.

Tradition...Romance...Rumble.

All leaving the game.
.

I’m sure the same was said for the first guy to start drinking water on the Tour de France. “Where is your wine!?”

You will appreciate this then. I looked at this boat yesterday and chatted a bit with the two guys there. One guy was from Miami representing Hellcat and the other guy from Canada who was the electric guy. 400lbs of batteries and they claim to be able to run full steam for...wait for it...............4 min🤣
In the next 10 years it’ll be 8 mins. 😁. Enough to idle through channel.

What would be the minimum amout of run time that would make a boat practical for real use. I know when i pull skiers it takes a lot of gas. If you were a wake boat boat it would be more so. How about a long run in a bass boat.

I watched an episode of engineering explained. He talked of a semi. For diesel with an average mpg of 6.5 you need 77 gals weighing 550lbs. For batteries you need 20k pounds. To cover the same distance.

Many boats get 1-3 mpg. You may not need the range but you are talking many thousands of pounds of batteries. Much more than a car.

The question of practicality is subjective right.

It sounds like the 32 has a pair of 180E’s turned up to 11. It’s a motor designed to fit a very specific market segment with an estimated 70 mile range at an avg. 20mph or 3.5hrs on a full charge. They’re essentially noiseless, odorless and smokeless with low maintenance. If you really think about it there’s more electricity available on the waterway than gasoline too.

Does that matter to most of us? Not at all. I’d assume the 180E doesn’t fit the bill for the majority of RDP. Yet.

They just rolled 109mph this morning though and they did it at LOTO. Seams to me like this reaffirms their dominance in a new racing class they essentially created at an incredibly historic and philanthropic racing event. How much do boaters on the lower Colorado river system care? Not much. But I can sure as shit say this is a HUGE win for a publicly traded company and their shareholders.
