Great news for Sriracha lovers! Heinz is bringing Sriracha flavored ketchup to store shelves today.

The Pittsburgh based company says the new flavor is an exciting twist on a classic.

It will feature the recognizable taste of ketchup, with an added kick from spicy chili pepper and garlic flavors.

In a press release Joseph Giallanella, Brand Manager of Heinz Tomato Ketchup said: ?We are thrilled to announce that Heinz Tomato Ketchup Blended with Sriracha Flavor will join the beloved Heinz Ketchup portfolio.? Giallanella added, ?Building off of our successful line of flavored ketchups, fans told us that they would love another bold take on their favorite condiment. The new offering adds a new kick to your favorite foods and recipes, pairing well with cheeseburgers, French fries and hot dogs, and is the perfect flavor boost for chicken and eggs.?

The ketchup comes in the familiar upside-down 14-ounce plastic squeeze bottle featuring a green and red label.

It?s joining an already diverse lineup of ketchups including Jalapeno, Basalmic Vinegar, and Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce.

The Sriracha flavored ketchup is now available at select retailers including Target and Walmart.

Is it just me or has the original become less hot than it used to be? Still very tasty but not as much kick. Maybe I'm just getting used to it?

I think it's you...our bodies build up a tolerance to the heat over time
There was a time that I thought black pepper was too hot to eat :p

I think they toned it down some. Probably found out if they dilute it, it wouldn't go as far and they'd sell more.

It's definitely toned down. It used to take just a drop or 2 per bite to light up anything. Now I apply it like ketchup.:thumbsdown

Says the process has changed.

Because they make it in a large facility now.
But they're saying the recipe hasn't

The company does say there will be some variation due to the chilis and the relative hotness from one batch to the next...just like salsa or really anything else made from fresh ingredients.

Just saw Sriracha flavored vodka yesterday. Is it new? For bloody Mary's maybe? Pretty disgusting sounding.

Maybe it's because the City of Irwindale or whatever was in a lawsuit with them over the stench? Less chile = less odor. Just a thought.

Yeah I'll try it.
Hot sauces and salsa outsell ketchup in the USA now.

Noticed last week the bread aisle at Ralphs was less that 1/4 of one side.

I remember when the bread aisle was the entire length both sides.

This is what I was thinking too. After the bitches living in the city of Irwindale cried about the air from the facility I'd bet they slowed down the processing of the chilies. The roast and the grind is what got into the air. Less product being processed would in turn cause a dilution of the end product perhaps. Anyone can publicly say "our recipe has not changed" who gonna challenge it? People will add more to their food which will cause more usage. More usage more sales. At least until they move which I'd bet dispite what they say.... is coming!

It wasn't even that bad......I worked right next door from them for over a year. I could throw a rock over the wall behind where I parked everyday and hit their building. We just moved at the beginning of the year. Smelled like pepperoncinis...and I hate that smell. :D
