Howdy,
I took a plane to ol' St George UT to see my mom and do a long list of "chores" that she needed done since my pop passed.
And
I hadn't seen the headstone since it was placed.

It already had what appeared to be, hard-water spots / streaks.
I went to Home Depot, they gave me a list of what NOT to use and some items to try on black granite.

The 2 "cleaners" did nothing.
The sealer helped to hide some of the marks but orher white streaks still remained.

I was thinking maybe some automotive swirl remover or light cleaner wax might work?

Any ideas or people encounter this problem before?

Thank you
FT

Is there a stone polish you could do to it? Either manually or with a battery powered orbital polisher?

I also called a shop that sells granite counter tops.
They gave me some stuff to try but I have to order it and try it on my next trip.
But
I will try the WD-40 as well.

👍

Thank you all for the replies.

Take a (Quiet) generator and a polisher out there and use rubbing compound followed by polishing compound. That’s what we do.

These things are remarkably useful....

Sold under lots of different brands. I got mine at O-reilly, and also have a ratchet. Battery life is pretty good.

I did a lot of stone cleaning in Florida, this is what I used to clean the stone, shit is pretty nasty, but flat out works

After cleaning the stone I used this on all of the stone, and it really works good, it's pretty expensive though.

I'm sure we could find an RDP member close enough in Utah that could get a coat of WD-40 on it until your next trip. Is the cemetery in St George?

Update:
- Yes, he's in St George.
And
- The Sealer I bought at Home Depot lessend the streaks seen in the pics and made the black "pop" but the "leeching" from cuts in the granite made for the letters and pictures didn't come out.

I'll call that headstone guy that Gramps mentioned and see if he clean it from time to time.
I'll also ask about the cleaners Nordi used.

Here's a pic with his 55 in the background.
It hadn't been stated sine he passed in February.

The car is mine now but I'm leaving it in Utah for the time being.
My Mom says she likes to see it in the garage and reminds her of him.
He loved that car.
Bought it when he was 15.
They dated during Highschool in that car almost 60 years ago.
But
Thank you all for the replies and suggestions.
👍👍
