The Mrs and I are headed to San Diego for a few days. We are staying in the Liberty Station area. What are some good restaurants in the area or in Old Town?

We plan on going to Cafe Coyote in Old Town. What are some cool things to do / See? I've been on the Midway before.

This place is cool. Very nice view at night.

This is a decent place for drinks, younger crowd.

Roof top drinks are pretty cool here. Strong as hell.

World Famous on the boardwalk in Mission Beach. Parking is underground as you pull into the street by the beach. Burger & breakfast are great.

Bare Back Grille (Pacific Beach). Burgers, shrimp skewers are killer

Brigantine is awesome

Brigatine on Fuerte in LaMesa and CLevel were always good. Can't go wrong with so many places in Little Italy. Always liked the Waterfront for lunch.
Pacifica Del Mar up North is was great for Dinner and a view. I miss those places since retiring.

Born and Raised in little Italy is my favorite. Get a reservation. But there are a lot of good ones I like right by it.

There are sooooooo many good restaurants in the San Diego area, I think you would have to narrow down what you are looking for..

Point Loma Seafood - not far from Liberty Station. It's a fish market, you order at the counter. They also have Pliny the Elder on tap.

I’ve lived in SD since 68 and need to try out some of these restaurants ….

I don’t get out much
Since 1968 too. We don't go to downtown very often either so my knowledge of restaurants is very limited.
We do take the Coaster Train to Old Town now & then for a nice mexican meal & some fishbowl margaritas. Casa de Reyes we enjoy most often it seems(creatures of habit we are😊). Have not had any bad meals in Old Town at any of the places we have gone to.

We live right above Liberty Station in the Loma Portal neighborhood. Staying local in Liberty Station there is Solare restaurant which is a fantastic Italian joint with an outstanding wine list. There is also the food court which has several little restaurants in it and a bar. Check it out, it's fun. Also Stone Brewery is in Liberty Station as well. Eppig Brewery (awesome city views and great beer) is nearby and is very close to Mitch's Seafood (good food and awesome views but can be tough finding seating at peak hours).

Blue water seafood makes good tacos (haven’t been there for a while but was always awesome). They are a bunch of fishermen so always had fresh fish and you had the option of what fish you wanted and cooked how you want.

And that reminds me of a local Pacific Beach joke.

Did you hear about the woman who was raped on Garnet and thought it was Grand?

I'll be here all week....try the veal.

Following, heading to Mission Beach with my kids and granddaughters next week and since I will either be baby and/or dog sitting I plan on hitting any local foodie spots/fish tacos etc. you can skip the bland Cali Mexican food recommendations though :p

If you want a very very nice dinner restaurant, Mister A's is amazing.
This. Get an outside table for 2. Thank us later.

Spots on the Bay with lots of awesome boat watching....Coasterra, C level, Tom Ham's Lighthouse.

Those are my spots. Couple good spots in little Italy but I grew up in Chicago so hard to match my old neighborhood spots I grew up on.

Haven't been in SD in about 8 years but the original Rockin Baja Lobster in Old Town used to be a great spot to go.

I usually end up in Gaslamp, so here are my recommendations.

Love me some Basic Pizza. Was as empty as I’ve EVER seen it tonight. Pizza and Coors light on point though. Proud of myself, only ate half of the small tonight. 😬

For seafood, Water Grill is fantastic. The live King Crab is one of the best things I’ve ever had. Looks like lobster or lobster tonight.

Yesterday we had lunch at Jimmy's World Famous Tavern, and Dinner at Cafe Coyote in Old Town.

Today, went to the Beach at Hotel De Coronado. Still trying to decide on dinner.

Tomorrow, not sure what we are doing during the day. Going to World Famous for dinner.

Try and get two Mai Thai’s and see how far you can walk. 😃
I might be OK. RD said I couldn't drink two Road Rappers at 1am after drinking all day. I managed. LOL

I can give you one last spot that has the finest view in all of San Diego. It’s on shelter Island. It’s called Bali Hai. They are known for the great food but more so for the Sunday brunches don’t eat for at least 24 hours in advance. It’s that good. https://www.balihairestaurant.com/

Bali Hai is always a good time! There are so many good restaurants you really can’t go wrong with any suggestions in this thread.

Headed home this morning. It was a good trip. Thank you for all the suggestions.

I had no idea it was coming up on Comic Con. Thank god we are leaving. This is the front desk at the hotel when we came back Wed night. I was like Oh Boy. LOL

To recap:

Tuesday: we went to Jimmy's World Famous for drinks and lunch, and went to Cafe Coyote in Old Town for dinner. Then walked around Old Town.

Wednesday: We went to rented some loungers at the Hotel De Coronado beach for the day. Then went to Solunto Restaurant and Bakery in Little Italy for a a great Italian dinner. Then a pedicab to Brigantine rooftop for drinks and sunset. Pedicab is no longer a thing. They are all electric powered now.

Thursday: Walked to Buzzed Coffee for breakfast, then spent the day in Pacific Beach. Had lunch at Draft, rented bikes, and had drinks at Lahaina Beach House for drinks. Dinner and Sunset at World Famous. Then a walk on the beach.

Had a great time. Now back to the grind. LOL
